Comment by Cassandra Winona on December 7, 2012 at 4:46am <p>I read on here a very strong argument for leaving out high oxalate greens to help with skin problems, has anyone had experience of this and how much difference did it make?
OH..and I have been misting my face religiously with rose water and rubbing the rinds of my cantaloupe on my face *^^* hehe~
I have struggled with acne since I was 12 (I'm now 28), and during my SLOW but serious/dedicated/faithful transition from vegetarianism, to veganism, to raw veganism, and ALMOST completely 811rv (this has been an eight and a half year journey)I've witnessed miracles!! For the last 5 weeks I've been committed to completing a challenge with a group from my yoga studio. During the challenge, every person was asked to give up something. I took the plunge and gave up caffeinated coffee (but still allowing myself caffeinated tea and decaf coffee~yeahhh...I know, decaf isn't 100% caffeine free, but BABY STEPS*^^*), and about 2 weeks into the challenge, I FINALLY released myself of one of my final SAD diet crutches: mustard (I didn't realize the ridiculous salt addiction I still was holding on to). Just by giving up those two items, I began to see beautiful improvement in the condition of my skin!
SOOO...in our challenge, during week 4, everyone was required to complete a 3 day fruit cleanse!
WOO...the only "challenging" part of it for me was to drop the decaf and yerba mate (only water and herbal teas). I have broken the cleanse with a few cups of decaf here and there, but I'M DETERMINED TO COMPLETELY RELEASE MYSELF OF IT! I have been LOVING my skin's AMAZING improvement, and I know that by kicking this one last crutch, my skin will only get better!!! I'm so so so so SO thankful for 811, it has truly changed my life... inside and out!!
Comment by CocoSofia on August 9, 2012 at 8:51pm ust an update, I travel a lot and notice that when in a hot weather city my acne improves 90%, but I concluded is not tanning, is the sweating, Im in Barcelona for 10 days now, and Im clear, the only different things I been doing beside the weather change(which I've done before without sweating):
Juicing mainly carrots (google carrot skin benefits) (celery, cilantro, spinach etc), having 1 capsule of chromium(megan elizabeth supplements with this), adding cinnamon to my smoothies, added soaked chia seeds to morning smoothie, going to the gym more, not tanning so far but I will start soon. Other thing is I did my first enema 15 days ago but dont know if it has relation. Only using water on my face.
When I go back to London, Im planing to have colonics and go to hot bikran yoga to get the sweat, keep juicing, cinnamon and chromium.
Comment by Jaiid the Singer on June 16, 2012 at 4:44pm Guys! I have been doing beauty school, learning how to do waxing makeup etc and one component is FACIALS..
I never held much faith in this, one, because I don't really like the idea of all the chemicals in the products going onto the skin, and two because I normally couldn't afford to make it a regular thing, BUT..
Since I have been in training, I have been getting facials once a week for the last 6 weeks (we get into pairs and perform the facials on eachother in class). WELL, I have to say, my skin does feel softer and is even CLEARER than it got when I started going vegan!
I am still finding it hard to stay away from cooked foods as its so cold where i live at the moment, but definitely going vegan has slowly helped immensely.
The products used in class are by Algologie, but I have a feeling that it's more to do with the whole treatment which includes cleansing, exfoliating, STEAMING and massage.. I think you can apply these actions with any products you see fit, but doing it regularly and consistently really getting the dirt and bacteria out of the pores would be the main focus for us fruity/ingredient-conscious blemish-prone people.. any thoughts or similar experiences?? Comment by Jaiid the Singer on April 23, 2012 at 10:07pm I started getting really bad acne 8 years ago, it just started overnight as a fine red rash all over my face, went away after a few days, then came back and went away again, then the pimples just started coming and coming! So Weird!
Every doctor I saw said it had nothing to do with food, but how many of us have the first thought of 'gee, something's not quite right, what have i been doing/eating differently?' ??? The only thing I could think of was that I had started eating tinned Tuna every day so I stopped that but the pimples wouldn't quit!
So i went thru the whole medical rigmarole of Anti-biotics, Contraceptives, Roaccutane, Hormone tablets, blood tests etc, and all the docs could tell me was that my body 'just produces too much testosterone, nothing can be done about it, just keep up the Aldactone (Hormone blocker)'.. until I decided enough was enough and stopped the meds just over a year ago. There's got to be something CAUSING the overload, but WHAT?? i read that heavy weight-training can increase production, and i have been going to a PT 3 times a week for 10 years, but I was not working out that heavily.. my trainer knows I don't want to be a bodybuilder, I'm a singer!! However, I am pretty muscular from all the training over the years, so I have cut down to 2 sessions a week and I'm not training as hard..
I started to clean up the diet, eating less meat and processed foods, and now my acne is NOTHING compared to what it was, but I still get them around the jawline. A couple start to heal up, and then 2 or 3 more pop up. It's a very frustrating cycle!
A few weeks ago I discovered Freelee on youtube. got the 80-10-10 book (still reading it), started on HCLFRV, and I am still transitioning so I'm not really strict, but have definitely cut out all dairy, sugars and meat, and when i am on a roll with heaps of fruit and less cooked foods, my skin becomes clear again. Doctors, PLEASE EXPLAIN!?
Anyone had a similar experience? Like with the rash?? No doc could explain that one!!!
Happy fruiting! feel free to add me! J x
Comment by Rachel Fleming on April 14, 2012 at 12:23pm Thanks for the advice. I am currently juicing everyday now with apples, celery, carrots, occaisionally ginger and rarely raddishes, although, I do use cucumbers. I've heard that when you allow the body to save energy on digesting foods, then it can heal things, like acne, faster.
I also might try dr. bronner's as well. Thanks again!
Comment by Dreamer79 on April 13, 2012 at 8:16pm - Get a juicer and juice apple, celery, carrots, ginger, raddish etc. every morning.
- Try some herbs like dandelion or garlic oil capsules.
- Buy turmeric and use it as much as you can (I hate the taste) or try turmeric root extract in capsules.
- Oils and rancid fats are bad! Most nuts in the store are rancid. I eat seeds (hemp) with no major problems and your skin might need some extra EFAs.
- Redness on the skin is a sign of inflammation inside your body. Find out what's causing it! You may have a food intolerance to something you eat daily. Get tested!
- Focus on digestion. Don't look at your skin, look at your poop!
- Avoid shampoos and unnatural soaps. Help your skin generate natural oils and let them stay there. Take cold showers and wash your hair with lemon juice.
Comment by Stephanie McClennon on April 13, 2012 at 4:24pm i've heard of people doing crazy awesome stuff with juice feasting, but it's hella expensive. it's a lot cheaper to do mono meals or fruit islands and they're almost as effective but far more satisfying IMO.
in the morning i wash my face with just plain old water and then apply a tiny bit of coconut oil because my skin dries out from living in a desert climate. if you live somewhere more humid, try not using anything on your skin and just letting it breathe. at night i use dr bronner's and a natural bristle face brush to remove my makeup, if i chose to wear any that day. i don't recommend putting vomit aka honey on your face. it's bee food. they need it, you don't. the reason you're breaking out isn't because of bacteria. if that was the case, we would have found the cure to acne with prescriptive drugs and topical creams by now, but we haven't. why? because the cure is within you... literally. like, it's all about your kidneys. your skin is your third kidney. if weird stuff is coming out your skin, it's 'cause it didn't have the opportunity to go through your kidneys first. i can recommend some herbs if you like but if not, just stick with loads of fruits. avoid starches/cooked foods and overt fats whenever possible.
