The woman I buy non GMO papayas from at the Hilo market is Pam. She usually is the large stand across the end of the market nearest to the sea. Quite a lot of her produce is organic but not all. Some is spray free. Ask her and she will tell you what is what. I also sometimes phone her and place an order which I pick up either from her in Hilo at the market or Pahoa or sometimes from her home in HPP. I buy them from Pam when we need to purchase also. She's at the Pahoa and Hilo markets. We also grow most of what we need. Even growing our own does not guarantee non GMO :-(

Pam at the Hilo market has non GMO.  I just grow my own now.  Even then one can not be totally sure that they are not GMO.  bugs carry the pollen around.
