Comment by Jade on July 23, 2012 at 5:14am Awesome! Everyone's going to have something slightly different that works best for them, so I'm glad all of these great suggestions are being shared!
Comment by Stephanie McClennon on July 22, 2012 at 3:06pm not sure. acv is just what i have in the house at the moment :)
i used castile soap for a bit but i really didn't like how my hair felt. it could be the water i shower with or something but i feel like the vinegar rinse is the holy grail for my hair :)
Comment by StormyCloud on July 22, 2012 at 2:51am Thanks a bunch for all the advice! Is apple cider vinegar better for your hair than plain white vinegar?
Comment by Jade on July 21, 2012 at 3:54pm I have relatively dry hair and would unfortunately disagree with the coconut oil...makes my hair SUPER frizzy! On the other hand, I have found that castile soap on my hair as shampoo dries my hair way LESS than any commercial (even natural) shampoo ever did. I don't wash my hair every day, though (don't need to), and it works pretty well for me.
Comment by Stephanie McClennon on July 21, 2012 at 2:56pm i went from using a "natural" shampoo to baking soda and and acv rinse once a week, but recently i've noticed that dries out my hair, so i've just doing the apple cider vinegar rinse almost daily and i really like the way my hair looks and feels :) not oily like when i use just water and not dry like when i use the baking soda. experiment!
castille soap on your bod isn't the worst thing, but after a few months on this lifestyle you probs won't smell so you don't really need to use the castille soap. i just dry brush and use an exfoliating mitt with water in the shower (i like to play outside and get dirty), and i use tate's miracle conditioner as a shaving cream :) you could probably use coconut oil or avocados as shaving cream too. like i said, experiment!

Comment by StormyCloud on July 21, 2012 at 1:07am I am trying to minimize my use of soaps and cosmetics. I no longer use deoderant or make-up but I still use plain Castille soap for my body. I have long hair and I was hoping to eliminate shampoo/conditioner. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hi,
just joined this group. I haven't been wearing make up for over a decade now. I really only did use eye liner back then. I try not to use much soap or other cleansing "poisons". UNfortunately about five years ago i started dying my hair alöthough i never wanted to and couldn't wait to have my silver-grey hair... but then somebody said something about my hair that i had just had in mind that morning and off I went and died them. but now since my transistion to 100% raw (february) i stopped dying my hair... and i also don't need deodorant since I've been eating 100% raw. I tried washing my hair with this "dirt" especially for washing hair. and it really did a good job keeping my hair clean. but my hair got static - big time - so now I'm back to vegan products. I will still take my time and try out washing my hair only with water...
