Get off the computer and find some free fruit!

This group is to help us all find free and amazing fruit. And I'm telling you - not only does it taste better when it's free, it usually tastes much better because you get to pick the ripest ones! As a forager - you'll save money, almost always get organic, get some extra sun, meet some folks, have some excitement, find rare varieties, and learn how to get the ripest fruit of the bunch! Peaches will be fuzzier, grapefruit will be unbelievably sweet, and if you can find some amber oranges - you'll be in heaven!

Comment by David Costa on March 6, 2013 at 10:31am: Alright, I just got to the mother of all foraging places, Puna Hawaii, my feet hurt from walking, don't have a bike yet. Some of the people here say go near the beach to find some avocado trees and coconuts, but where do you think would be the best bet to get sugary sweet fruit? I know it's not the best time of year as I've been told, but screw it, I'm here.

Comment by Darc' Fruitman Sapote on September 7, 2012 at 11:57am: will report back soon on Sydney, as for Melbourne (down there for film fest) Port Melbourne I'd say has: 200 lemon trees, 50 orange trees, 30 mandarin trees, & many lemonades, blueberries, pomegranates, tangerines, tangellos, fejoas, peruvian-melonsm & blackberries.

We just started talking to people and they kept leading us to more...like this 95 year old man that has BEAUTIFUL apples in his backyard and just leaves them to drop and rot...lions and tigers and bears! And then this Asian couple spotted us and had us come to their Asian pear tree - I think they wanted us to take them all - there were BOXES full...wasn't prepared - will go back this week! Man, it is a good time of year to get your forage on in Oregon!
