Comment by Don Bennett on January 24, 2012 at 1:11pm: Sara, I have never found ripe, ready-to-eat bananas at Whole Foods. Other stores however sometimes have a "manager special" on - what they consider to be over-ripe - bananas. So instead of 69 cents per pound, they are 39 cents per pound, and are very close to being ready for eating. But you can't count on this. Consider shipping a box of bananas ahead to your resort; bananas that will be ripe when you arrive. Package them well so they don't get bruised in shipping (and I wouldn't declare that you are shipping food).

That said, you can try calling the Whole Foods and ask if they can put a case aside for you so that the bananas will be spotted (don't use the term "ripe") when you arrive.
