i have had this issue with costco bananas. I usually eat them anyway. I know they look gross, but they can taste ok. I keep them well insulated, and wait for them to spot. they taste ok to me, they just don't look real purdy. I do sometimes get them from safeway. I know that sounds expensive, however sometimes they are on foe 88 cents a lb, which is definitely ok. Its the same with HandW or even superstore, and those bananas are nice and yellow.

Thanks for the tip @ 7hotdates.com.

I am also having troubles with finding good bananas right now, I have tried Earth's General Store once, and typically order my boxes from Homegrown in Stony Plain (where I live), but most of the time my orders of bananas don't ripen as quickly as they should (some bunches will actually stay green) and it's like they will start rotting before ripening.

They don't get vibrant yellow, and sometimes have a dull, stringy (fibrous) appearance.

If you have found a source of organic, vibrant bananas year-round, please share!

I get most of my food from Costco - it costs about $220 per week just to feed me.  I make sure that the greens that I buy are organic, but as for everything else - I just buy what looks good.  I can't afford to get everything organic and often the organic produce at places like Planet Organic just isn't as fresh as I would like.  I do get some organic fruit from The Organic Box every other week - that way I feel like I am still supporting the whole idea of organic produce.  I also have dates from 7hotdates.com - they are awesome!  I will have to check out H&W and Northern Lights produce.  I'm pretty new to this too (less than a year) so I'm still figuring things out.

Lots of citrus right now. It is divine! I also bulk ordered dates and have been chowing on those a lot. I have also been eating lots of bananas and grapes too. Stocking up on frozen fruit has been a big help for variety. As far as tips go, I really like the bananas at h&w Costco seems to be a let down for nanners lately. Have you tried northern list produce? City centre market on Saturdays can have great finds as well as the old strath one. I got my dates from seven hot dates dot com, honestly some of the best I have ever had. Other than that, not really. I'm still pretty new to this. Not quite a year. So maybe you may have tips for mr :-)
