Hey fruitarian -

I wrote a post about that should help you out: How to Open a Durian

You should definitely leave it out to thaw for 6-8 hours. Don't leave it for days, or it will go bad.

Anyone have contact info for wholesalers/distributors/suppliers/retailers of durian varieties other than mornthong who are based in the US or reliably ship to the US?

$4/kg here in brisbane, only issue they r deep frozen, btw anybody wonder how much durian is too much? So if u go by percentage of calories are fat than its quite a bit but still nothing compared to dead-foods, looking forward to hopefully having my first Aussie durians within the month if season kicks in.

Always good to know! Thanks Darc'Fruitman.

Haven't found much durian yet here in Sri Lanka, but it was going for about $1/kilo in Davao City, Philippines last week. Just posted a review of all the durian varieties you can find there. Will let you know what we find in Sri Lanka!
