Comment by Freshenista on February 21, 2013 at 1:32pm That sounds like a good idea to go when it's not super busy, so we can hang out without feeling we're taking tables from others who need them. Some time 3-4 to start is good with me.
Comment by R. on February 21, 2013 at 11:41am We have been working on getting a new chapter here in DC, and have been going for a few months, however it is really just me and a friend and all we can cary and we are hoping to build it into something bigger that does not depend on us. Most of the produce we use is dumpstered, but we also get donations from stores and individuals. We have a great source of bread, apples, and different starchy vegetables, which is our main grub that we hand out. We use the metro for transport. We have a couple of kitchens that we use and have been offered to us. Right now, we are working on publicizing and growing in number. The website says we need cooks every day.... pay that no mind. What would be helpful is in transportation chiefly. This saturday we are going to be distributing at 5:30 in the circular plaza near Sticky Fingers. It may be quite bleak and uneventful, but we keep going anyways, with enough perseverance it might become strong like many other chapters. If you would like to do anything specific, perhaps diving, cooking, driving, publicity, or organizing people, let me know what you are interested.

Comment by R. on February 20, 2013 at 10:37am Is anyone in the area interested in helping out with Food Not Bombs in DC?? We are working to distribute on Saturdays in Columbia Heights. Cooked vegan food, bread, and apples mostly.
Meeting this Sunday Count with me too. If someone interested in getting organic produce..BULK! we could coordinate. I might do my weekly shopping Sunday afternoon 6ish. To share a case of 72 organic oranges sounds good? It does to me.
Oh Boy....fun fun fun...I'm not completely 80 10 10 by any means, but just eating as much fruit as I can hear lately and big salads and I noticed that my scale is now reading 178 lbs in the mornings instead of the previous 183 before.
