Comment by Jared Six on February 26, 2013 at 3:55am Hey everyone, I am planning on being in Costa Rica all of 2013 and I would be very happy to meet some other raw vegans when I´m here. (I have only met 3 other raw vegans so far during my years of being one myself and they have all been lovely and interesting people so I´m very anxious to meet more of them.)
If anyone here is going to be in Costa Rica this year and would like to meet me please send me an e-mail and we´ll talk :)
Comment by Tropical Raw on February 22, 2013 at 3:37am @ Durianwriter You can buy land for any price or size you like. There are no limitations for foreigners in this points. For titled properties there are no restrictions at all. Neither you need $100.000 in a bank. You can even buy land from abroad. Maybe the $100.000 are referred to some residential conditions and you misunderstood. My girlfriend and I are residents in Costa Rica. There are different ways to resident status, but that's another topic. Regards
Comment by Durianwriter on February 17, 2013 at 5:23am Hey Tropical Raw,
What you say intrigues me. I was also looking for land in Costa Rica last year but was discouraged both by prices and by the local laws. What are you doing about the land ownership laws? Don't you need to have like $100,000 in the bank to have a right to buy land?
Comment by Tropical Raw on February 17, 2013 at 5:14am Hi out there, we will probably buy a property in the next 2 months on the caribbean side of this wonderful country. If anyone is interessted in buying a piece of land for cheap or looking around with us for more propertys to choose from in the followeing 2 months you are welcome to contact us. In our listing we have already 3 properties to choose from if we don't find better ones. We are living in Costa Rica for more than 2 and a half years. My main purpose was looking out for land that fits our criteria. The southern caribbean area is still cheap enough to buy several hectares (=2.2 acres) of land without spending enormous amounts of money. We are talking about prices around $4000-6000 per hectar, close enough to turistic and alternative areas like Puerto Viejo and Cahuita but far enough from the civilization troubles for nature lovers. For contact and more infos have a look on our webpage that will be updated in some days: www.rohkostarica.de (in German & English) Pura Vida!

Comment by Catherine Forest on January 2, 2013 at 10:20am Sounds really good to me, but yes, go and see it, and maybe even ask the opinion of a realtor that knows the area (for potential problems). Good luck! This is exciting!
Comment by Andrew Banandrew on January 2, 2013 at 10:14am Thanks, Catherine. I'm going to meet with my friend, and I'll be sure to ask all of those questions.
This is what he told me a couple weeks ago: " My land has a slight ocean view, backs up to an amazing small river/creek and on the other side is preserved jungle that can never be touched. I also have electricty and water 300m away which is a cheap hook up(pvc, electric lines, etc) Im up in a mountain side that has an absolutley gorgeous view or preserved jungle"
Comment by Catherine Forest on January 2, 2013 at 10:09am Oh and also check the soil density to know if you can actually build a house on it (ask for a soil quality test...).
