Anyone going to school in central Illinois. I can't wait to return to school in the fall b/c I can gorge on all the fruit I want to in the dining hall w/out worrying about saving my money very carefully...my parents hate  the idea of raw veganism so when I come home for the summer I have to buy my own food. 42 days left! ^_^

Hey everyone, great site! I just joined : )

Anyway, I just wanted to give a tip that some might find useful. I just got back from the farmers market with a bunch of fresh cherries and peaches for super cheap! I usually just go at the end of the market when there is only about an hour left so all of the stands really want to get rid of there produce and a bunch of stuff goes on sale! Then I usually ask if they will give me a discount on top of that if I buy in bulk and they almost always will! Anyway, hope this helps! Cheers and cherries.

Hey everybody!

I am going to UMBC in Maryland and I'm hoping to be able to get an apartment next year so I can store my fruit :)

Any tips?

Awesome website Kayla! I totally want those lip balms!

And about social situations, it is tough. I recently went 100% raw after doing a month of 80% raw, and I find i have been avoiding my friends which I know would criticize my diet. My one friend freaked out when I ate 4 oranges, (but eating 4 cookies was never an issue?! lol) He was like there's something seriously wrong with you, that's gluttony. You are eating too much. I was like woah, relax. Since that experience I have been effectively avoiding him and it sucks because he is one of my closest friends! I find that some people are more accepting than others.

In social situations, for example going out to a restaurant, Michael Arnstein did a great video saying how we should find restaurants with great salad bars, or simply ask for a salad and alter it. I went out to a restaurant and the waiter was more than accommodating with my salad. I explained to him that I am a vegan and that I wanted all the ingredients in my salad raw.

PS I wish we were all together, it would make it so much easier at meal times! Is anyone planning on going to the Woodstock Fruit Festival!? =)

Hi everyone! I'm from Germany, studying German literature and philologie and Philosophy. I'm a vegan for 3/4 a year and 80/10/10 for a week now. I read all your comments here and it seems to me, that german universities are much smaller than yours in the US :)

Gahhh! I'm at school and we have like nothing.
I'm going to be here for another 6 hours. All I've had is some watermelon, 2 dates, my friend game me half of his banana after I begged for it lol, and an apple... For $1 -_-
All the fruit and veggies on this campus right now are apples ($1) each, a cup(literally a cup with 3 pieces of watermelon and 3 pieces of what appears to be unripe pineapple) for $3
And salad made out of subway veggies. Tried to get a salad but they only have iceberg lettuce cucumber and tomato, and are out of spinach! I tried to cut out overts (esp cause its that time..) and the only other thing is raw almonds.
Spent so much time this morning preparing food (cut up a watermelon) had some pomelos, oranges, and apples, and I forgot it all!
My college sucks.

this is awesome! i feel so alone being only 22 and on this diet. i watch so many videos on youtube of people who have huge kitchens, expensive appliances, and clearly alot more money than i do. its nice to know i am not the only one out there trying to squeeze this diet into my tiny text-book filled apartment
