30BaD note: juicing (without the pulp) is not ideal for most people, it's far better to eat the whole fruit. why?

Comment by David Costa on July 31, 2012 at 3:07am How can we meet more vegans where we live, only ones I have talked to are on this forum.
Thinking of taking Durianriders advice of advertising myself, wearing clothing with vegan written on it.
Comment by Konstantia on July 31, 2012 at 3:02am I just like bananas also, haha. Lots of them, especially for smoothies - I love to put bananas in smoothies as a basis fruit.
Ally, it may seem a bit difficult at the beginning, even a bit painful some times, but think that you go on walking the path you have chosen and some things are inevitable to happen. It would happen anyway some time. After some period you won't feel sad so much and you will also see that your choices will give you a special kind of freedom. It is strange how a diet choice can change so many things in our lives in so many other areas but it's also wonderful to live it and it will be a miracle unfolding inside you. You may even not understand it and when you will, you will just be an other human, the good way.
p.s. Best friends are always excluded. That's why they are called "best friends". :)
Comment by Ally McClain on July 31, 2012 at 1:10am I love vegans....its just very hard to find them where I live....but hey I really only want people who can accept me in my life...:) or at least that's how I'm trying to view it!
Comment by David Costa on July 31, 2012 at 1:04am I didn't have any friends anyway, don't like the company of sheeple. Vegans are more interesting and I'm discovering more of what I want in life talking to them and being one. I was omnivore 40 days ago, 100% vegan since then.
Comment by Ally McClain on July 31, 2012 at 12:49am Konstania, I am beginning to think the the fading of friends, so to speak, may start happening to me soon. It worries me but hopefully my best friends can accept it! and jamie, i like that! haha
Comment by Tucker Cousin on July 30, 2012 at 5:16pm Hello Everyone. I am new as well and looking forward to learning so much more. I have been juicing now for about three years and i love it. I eat fairly clean; however, i am always looking to do better.
Comment by Gabriel Arroyo on July 27, 2012 at 12:32am Does anyone know where I can find besides the 80/10/10 a book that has specifics about what I can eat and not eat? I have already lost 5lbs in less than a week. Which I think is great and I feel great. But I still want and sometimes crave cooked food. But the funny thing is that the food I crave is soup. Any idea or help will be greatly appreciated. If this has been discussed already please paste a link for me thanks!
Comment by Konstantia on July 24, 2012 at 3:50am When I changed diet I changed slowly almost all my friends. I also changed my second husband. It wasn't intended but it happened slowly. Some stayed but the rest... we just didn't have a lot of things in common any more. After 4 years I am close to people like me who can eat with me and laugh and have a good time together. My new husband is a vegan also. I still keep on explaining my diet to new people in my life. There were strange moments where I went out to ...eat with my colleague from work and I ...drunk water or brought my food with me. And it's not only that I am a vegan, it's that I eat only organic and there is no organic restaurant here, haha, so I couldn't even join eating the salad. It was fun in the end. I had to pass all the ritualistic procedures to explain myself and now whoever can accept me is ok and whoever can't is ok also. But I am also tired when I have to explain again my diet and have this as the main subject with newbies. It's good that most of the people around me know already. And it's very good that there are people that somehow started to change their diet also, some a bit some more, without me having to advertise it. It just happened and keeps happening slowly. And I think this is good.
I don't think there is a magical "secret" but if there was, I suppose this is to be steady to our truth, like ourselves, don't give more value to the others than ourselves and take things more lightly. Life is short and we need more laugh and happiness than misery. Whoever loves us will stay with us, veganism is a filter that shows who is good for us and who is not. There is no need for them to change diet, just to be able to accept us and have fun with the differences that come whenever they come. That's what I do. And I don't think I am selfish when I want to decide for myself and my health.
Comment by Fruitcake on July 24, 2012 at 3:38am I began practicing Natural Hygiene about 20 years ago. If you think it's not vogue now, you can imagine what it was like 20 years ago. There was no internet (back in the dinosaur days) and so no information to share, recipes to share, and like minded people to connect with. I told EVERYONE I met about my great lifestyle find. I became annoying and people would start to cross the street when they saw me coming. Then I got pregnant with my second child and the only thing I wanted to eat were Harvey's hamburgers. I managed to abstain for about 3 months and then I HAD to have one. I snuck one in my car and ate it. It was then that I realized that I was human, and so were all the people that I tried to convert. From that moment on I just lived my life in the best way that it suited me. Sometimes I would be following a healthy way of life, other times I did not. I stopped guilting myself and stopped trying to change the world of those people who DIDN'T ask. So now, I am pretty much on track and feeling healthy. People only ask me what I am doing because they see how healthy I am. I don't make a big deal of it. And when I socialize with people I try and make the best choices that I can. If I can bring some healthy dish I will. If we are in a restaurant I try and go with low fat vegan. Steamed veggies. If I meet people for coffee, I drink an herbal tea. Part of this way of life is also to eliminate stress. And its important to build healthy relationships. It is not the end of the world if you make another choice. What is important in the moment? Just my two cents. Hugs.
Comment by T on July 24, 2012 at 3:03am I got put into a position to explain this way of eating to two people this weekend, and I found I really did not want to yet. With only one month in, I don't feel it's a good idea yet -- what if I fail? What if I don't fail but never lose weight? etc... Nonetheless they grilled me for at least an hour.
