Hi everyone,
Well i am a total newbie to the lifestyle and website and I'm still getting my head around alot of information, so guess i will just start with a little about myself.
I have been eating this way for about 3 weeks. Initially i think i put on some weight, I refuse to weigh myself it just puts me in a bad headspace, but felt my clothes were tighter. Today i feel lighter and more radiant it's awesome. I have struggled with weight and bosy image for most of my life and I certainly am taking this journey for weightloss, but i also just want to feel happy, content and at peace and no longer have this obssession with food, and just be ok with who i am, inner peace people while being completley healthy and looking amazing.
I am a single Mum of two little boys, I left my abusive husband 2.5 years and these have been the hardest years of my life but in this time i have worked on trying to be the best version of myself, alot of ups and downs. I have put myself through university and have almost finished my Bachelor in Nursing. I have always yo yo dieted and have got results but i seem to fall back into bad habits. I am currently about 70kg give or take like i said the scales are my enemy so i stear clear. I am very active and have been competeing in Half marathons my goals for this year are a 30km run and a full maraton, this is also another reason i chose this lifestyle i really want to be the best athlete i can.
So here are a few questions i have and was wondering if anyone can shed some light. It's a little embarrassing but i have alot of wind and well it's pretty pungent lol. could this be to do with combining the wrong fruit??
Also any tips to keep in a great headspace, at night i find myself questioning various elements of the diet and i feel a little anxious about things. I have read 80/10/10 and try to follow it as much as i can but i still feel a bit in the dark.
My last one while freelee and Duiranrider so eat as much as you can shove in, Dr Graham says for weighloss to calorie restrict. I am a little confused here. I really want weightloss so i want to follow the correct information to ensure i get results. I know that this is not a over night quick fix and i definatley need to be patient, but i would love some clarification here.
Well i have gone on long enough, i hope someone may be able to shed some light
Thanks Brooke

Permalink Reply by Gerry O'Sullivan on May 15, 2012 at 6:54pm You are courageous, I was married with a little one and went to night school to finish my degree. That was difficult, but I can't imagine how tough it is for you. You are a great mother to get your boys out of that environment. God bless you.
I had a terrible case of gas for 10 years. The cure for me was Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar. Take 1 or 2 teaspoons in 8 ounces of water 20 minutes before each meal. The apple cider vinegar kills off bad bacteria and enzymes and replaces them with good. It took about a week. You must dilute it with water or it will burn your throat.

Welcome! I've been doing this for about 3.5 months now. I'm not 100%, but certainly HCRV about 85- 98% of the time. Listen to your body - everyone's a bit different. What I've found is that I do best when I eat a LOT of fruit, a head of leafy greens a day and not a lot else. I have suffered from the same thing as you - particularly early on - and now when I combine poorly (usually when I have fruit too close to dinner which has a bit of fat in it, or protein of some kind. I have found the gas is so much better lately. I think in the beginning your digestive tract freaks out a bit because it's getting rid of a lot of crap - but it should settle down.
I'm still yet to get over 2500 cals a day. I find I'm about comfortable on 2000. But if I eat any less than this then I start to think about cooked food in a big way. I'm really starting to recognise the signs of being undercarbed.
I guess it depends how much you're exercising. Some days I'm so busy with work and kids (like today) that I do no exercise - and i feel it would be just wrong to cram in 3000cals just because I 'should'. Listen to your body. If you start feeling like cooked food in the afternoon or evening, chances are you haven't had enough fruit.
best.

Thankyou for your response, any info is awesome! I am the same sitting at around 2500- 3000 depending on my exercise. I am training for a Marathon so i guess i really need to up my cals as sometimes my training burns upwards of 1000 cals in one session and i train 6 days a week. I do think you are right though listening to our bodies i am not stuffing because i don't feel like it, but seem to be continously grazing i'm not sure if that is the best way. I tend to have about 5 meals a day instead of 3 large one this is how i am managing cal intake. Iam new so eventually my body will adjust. In terms of gas i hope your right it really is uncomfortable and terrible my poor children lol.
Thanks again for the relpy, ps have you noticed any weight gain or loss in your 3.5 months? i am just curious as there seems to be som many extremes in this area.

Permalink Reply by dandelion on May 16, 2012 at 10:25am Hi Brooke,
I've lost about 5 kilos. The only time I've put on weight has been when I've upped my cooked food. I think I could lose another couple, and am gradually doing so. I'm not in a hurry any more. Feeling so good it doesn't matter. Congrats on your running. I'm running too but only 30 mins a day. Would love to train up to do a major run like you though. Sounds like a great thing to do.
Take care. You're doing amazingly well considering everything on your plate!
Permalink Reply by Brooke on May 16, 2012 at 10:44am Thankyou, lovley for you to say when i read comments like that i know that all of this hard work is worth it. Wow that's great 5 kg is fab in anyones books. I am hoping to loose about 10kg all up would make my runiing alot easier, but know it's a process and i am just loving feeling like this so that's the main thing. Also that's fantastic you are running 30 mins a day that's how i started and well it's been a year and a half and I'm doing marathons so you too will get there. You are also a busy woman so great job. Ps there is nothing quiet like finishing a competitive run it's amazing.
Thanks again for your reply and on that note I'm off for a 18km run and i'm super excited aboutit, that's what i love the most about this lifestyle the energy and positive vibes that just come so naturally from fruit.
You take care also, have a great day!
Brooke
