30 Bananas a Day!

Hi everyone. I am so excited to share where I am at with this lifestyle and how the people around me are responding.  I am in my seventh week on LFHCRV and am doing well.  (I came from a vegetarian diet).   I cannot believe how great I am feeling.  Just like many who have posted, my moods are relaxed and happy.  Not that I wasn't a happy person prior to starting this, but it's just a whole different type of happy.  My energy level is insane.  We recently spent a week at the beach with my husbands family including two little ones (7 and 9 years old).  I was easily keeping up with them and I think I actually wore them out.  I just never ran out of energy.  The most exciting thing about that week was that my sister in law and mother in law had a lot of questions about this diet.  I tended to down-play it and respond with basic information.  As they continued to watch me prepare and eat all my food, they continued to dig for more information.  Let me say, they were not judging me, just VERY curious.  I brought Dr. G's 80-10-10 book with me in case this were to happen.  By the third day, I brought the book out and said "you are welcome to read this".  Over the next several days I noticed that they would pick it up and look through it from time to time.  By the end of the week my sister and mother in law stated they were going to try it when they got back home.  My nephew (who likes fruit smoothies anyway) saw me make my green breakfast smoothie every morning (a few cups of spinach, bananas and dates) and thought it looked gross.  One of the last days he asked me if he could try my smoothie.  He tried it and was surprised by how yummy it tasted. He then proceeded to make his own WITH spinach...  :)   My husband also declared that once we got home he would try this diet for a week and see how it goes.  He is in his third day and doing quite well.  In fact, he has lost three pounds.  I have to add my husband and in laws are all meat-a-tarians too!  I am so thrilled to be able to help influence people towards a healthier lifestyle.  Finally, I want to report that I have lost 6 pounds since starting.  (I didn't have much weight to lose really- I am 5'7" and weighed 133 pounds to start and am now down to 127.  Thank you DR and Freelee for this website and to all that provide their experiences and information!!!  Totally elated!!

Brigsby!!  I love your journey!!  I'm around the same height & wt.  And reading how you are losing and your energy is amazing.  I'm still scared to eat so much fruit.  About how much are you eating during the days.  That is my hangup and I like to see 'proof' as so many 'talk the talk' and end up not 'walking the walk'. I would absolutely LOVE your feedback.  Thanks so much for sharing this with us!! :)

Hi Kim.  Thank you so much for reading my story.  I am glad to offer my experience!

Here is a typical day (and I am building on it each day).  I wake up around 5 am drink about 800mls of water, eat a banana and a date.  Do about 40-60 minutes of exercise (consisting of either weight training -P90X or cardio - running or recombant biking.  7am Breakfast is a green smoothy (a couple of bananas, a couple of dates, a cup of mixed fruit and 2-3 cups of spinach).  Around 930am I eat a couple more bananas and 3-4 dates.  11:30 a couple of oranges and a banana and a date. 2pm -ish I will have 2 more dates and 2 more bananas or a couple of mangos.  For supper I will have a GIANT salad usually consisting of romain, bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, tomatos, shredded cabbage.  I make a dressing from tomatos and mangos or tomatos and spinach (I blend them up).  I usually find myself hungry an hour or so after dinner so I'll eat a couple more bananas or dates.   I make sure I drink a minimum of a gallon of water per day.   I have been only able to get around 2000ish calories up until this week.  Today for example, I was at 2000 calories by 2pm  :).  It has taken time to get my tummy to consume this volume but it is getting better and my appetite is crazy good.  As far as being hesitant about eating large volumes of fruit, I understand.  I came from a food restriction mindset prior to this (as I'm sure many did).  It is so refreshing to know that you can eat tons of food, nourish your body and lose the unnecessary body fat.  I look to many of the long term 30BAD peeps as guidance.  I see them and figure that they are doing it right so I will follow right along...   I use Cronometer to keep track of my intake http://cronometer.com/ .  That really helps me because otherwise I would lose track of what I have eaten.  Best of luck to you Kim and don't forget-EAT  :)

Oh Brigsby!!!  Thank you so much for replying.  That means so much!! Personally, I struggle with anorexia so that might tell you a little about my fear which definitely sounds like you understand.  This has helped tremendously as I'm in a 'starvation'  mood/mode of coping right now and am just exhausted and foggy.  You also mentioned running!  That is my passion..however have been deeply depressed since I haven't been able to  run or exercise due to lack of nutrition. (It's been so long I would have to start over :(  Which I am so willing to do.  I will definitely keep in touch with you as I so enjoy this communication, I've not participated in it before and it feels good to get support.  I have to go now, I don't have a pc at home, so it will be tomorrow am before I'll reply.  Just to let you know I'm not 'ditching' you...  THANK YOU!!!
