Hey Guys i've been HCRV for over a month now (yay!) and feeling great!
I'm currently sipping on a Liter of watermelon, had datorade for two meals (20 dates each) and dinner of pear and tomato(not sure yet if that is a good combo or combo abombo..)
my energy and digestion are working awesome but my skin is still pretty crap
anyway last night for the first time my family sat me down and mentioned health concerns they had for me. basically that i'm not eating properly and getting what my body needs cuz i'm not eating what the ''scientific world'' and dieticians etc belive is healthy and want me to go and be reviewed by one..
basically what was admitted was ''no we're not looking at weather your bodies getting what it needs and is healthy and happier than it has been, we're looking at what you Should be eating scientifically and whatever they say we'll belive it because of the decades of research and evidence that has gone into creating the database from which scientific professionals draw on for the education of such..''
it was quite confronting and unsettled me making me feel quite isolated and misunderstood
and i'm just wondering what others have experienced and what is known about dietitions?
I've never been to one yet have a feeling they'll sit there with their mouth open and immetiately put me back onto a high steak low fruit n veg diet after they've gotten over the idea of someone eating 10 banana's in one go.
this is the only thing i struggle with with this diet
close people - no understanding of health - preconceived ideas (thanks media) - problems
what should i do regarding the dietition? and how are these issues navigated succesfully?

Permalink Reply by John on March 29, 2012 at 11:24am Go with your body. Only you know how you feel on any particular diet. If you come to a dead end where you are not feeling well, you can always return to a vegan diet with rice beans and nuts. Proceed slowly, always and you are likely to have a good outcome.

Permalink Reply by sally on March 29, 2012 at 12:47pm I know exactly what you are going through! I had my regularly scheduled physical recently and I am in my fifties. The nurse would quiz me, "Are you sure that you are not taking any medications?" Like, I wouldn't know that I am not? LOL. Then she complimented me on my good blood pressure, weight, etc. Then she asked me what I ate, and I told her that I was eating alot of fruits and green leafy and other vegetables. Then she would say, "Well, how many fruits and vegetables?" So I then told the nurse that it is all I would eat whenever I ate, no limit really. Then the nurse repeatedly told me, that it was "Too much vegetable and too much fruit." I ended my visit with saying, "Well, all of my numbers are right, so it must be working." She wasn't happy for me. But let me tell you... I used to have pain getting up putting weight upon my feet and would walk slow to get going... no more! I can hop out of bed with no pain at all in my feet ever since doing this 80/10/10 diet! I don't want to go back to my old ways of eating.
Permalink Reply by Star Khechara on March 29, 2012 at 8:22pm if your parents are genuinely interested in science get them to read science articles lol. A dietician is trained by the medical establishment who have no interest in health, the diets they promote actually go AGAINST the nutritional research in the science journals. I am a trained nutritionist and went to university but I chose to research vegan and raw diets, there is a lot of support for this diet if one looks into the science of human biology.
Dietitions do not = science, they are in league with the junk food industry who are in league with the pharmaceutical industry. This is not the rantings of a madman, this is simple fact.
In the UK the main nutrition organisation is called the British Nutrition Foundation, look who funds them: http://www.nutrition.org.uk/aboutbnf/membercompanies/sustaining-mem... yes all chemical companies and junk food corporations.
This is not about science, it's about profits.
If you go to this dietician she will 100% say that you're diet is bad because they preach the junk food industry model of the 4 food groups/food pyramid etc. Their profession teaches them to stick to this so they have no clue about eating any other way - they will just condemn it from the off. I am a trained nutritionist with 18 years of study and yet other, much less trained nutritionists, tell me I eat wrongly - no one is trained properly in this business as it has too many ties with the food industry.
Can you refuse to go?? Is this normal for parents to force their children to the doctor??
Most dieticians don't study the wider perspectives of nutritional research, they are as guilty as anyone of cherry picking data to support their claims.
Permalink Reply by Alagaia on March 30, 2012 at 11:28am Thanks Star and everyone its been really encouraging reading all the replies.
yeah I can refuse but I think more than anything its a battle of mind sets and at that age living a life ignorant of health and nutrition the mind set is locked into the 'normal way of living' with the food piramyd and the two pieces of fruit a day happy for the media and the 'experts who know what they're talking about' to dictate how to live.
Its that mind set that will take little more of a miracle to shift as there is no desire to know any more than they do currently.
And its made me realise that its not as simple as my choice to live like this in curiousity to see how my body will respond as its something I believed in before i stepped into the lifestyle.
Now it starts to involve the deepness of the wrongs of the industries and the misleeding thats happening right before my eyes and the reality that that stuff does matter
I have been given the freedom to continue doing what i'm doing simply aware of their concerns
and so my little stubborn determination says 'i'll Show them what i'm trying to say with my body and the results'
It gives me more incentive than the happiness of my body and life, the incentive to perharps display this life to others who would never know about it otherwise
I think i'll take my time (would a month be enough for results to show?) and get the blood tests and do the whole check up thing before i go to see a dietition (if i go) and bring the results with the method ;) I'll let you all know how i go
Hello Alagaia,
I thought I would respond to your post and give you a different perspective or two on your situation with family.
First....I noticed the first thing you wrote was how much better you are feeling overall being LFHCRV.
This alone, is very important. (You are saying that you feel better). This is more important perhaps then it may seem.
Secondly....As a correction, LCHCRV is not a diet. This is a path, a lifestyle.
Third...You are doing fantastic. And by being a member of 30 BAD, you are among friends and like minded people and kindred spirits to always lean on and are here for you to talk and share with for exactly the kind of emotional support that you may need. You are among friends here.
Lets look at the use of the word "should".... You are doing exactly what is right for you. Not what you should be doing, but what you are drawn to do. The word should is Always an imposition either thru guilt and passive/aggressive manipulation. "Should" is in reality an unhealthy and toxic form of enslavement.
You are new to this lifestyle and as such, your body is going thru a light detox which is manifesting in the form of some complexion issues.
Your skin, well, all of our skin is in fact our third kidney. Our kidneys are for filtration and our dermis, our skin also acts as filtration from what is going on systemically on the inside and will in fact work its way out and discharge thru the skin and will manifest as rashes, acne, lesions etc. This is a normal aspect to detoxing, which apparently you are going thru. This will pass.
Detoxification is a necessary and very normal aspect to becoming raw. No two people go thru detox the same way. There are a great many variables that inhibit making generalizations.
The dietary models and "scientific understanding" of obtaining nutrients is very outdated and in reality not scientific at all. (Excuse me if I sound harsh, I don't intend to be). The modality of so-called dieticians and the allopathic community base their judgments and recommendations on disease as well as the standard american/world diet. With few if any variation or deviation.
You are an intelligent person. I am not really saying anything you are probably not aware of already. I agree with you about the media. Nothing true. Nothing accurate.
Most of the members here of 30 BAD have a deeper understanding of diet/lifestyle then many text book so-called "dietitions". If you are asking for advice, I would ignore the dietition nonsense. You do not have to justify what you are doing as a HCRV. You can direct them to this web site and read what members post. Or you can show them the 200 plus groups here and how many members join multiple groups, or you can direct them to watch many of the videos on youtube. Many raw foodies, many channels.
These are just a few ideas. But I want to reinforce to you, to be strong in your conviction in what you are doing here and in what you believe to be your truth and remember that you do not have to explain or justify yourself.
I hope this is helpful to you.

Permalink Reply by Myca on April 1, 2012 at 1:39am So, how old are you? If you are younger than 18, ask them to see your medical doctor. Bring the book and show it to your doctor. The dietitian is trained on the SAD, so he or she would think your diet is very unbalanced. Time will tell with this lifestyle. There is this wonderful documentary on two guys growing one acre of corn. I will look for it, it would be very helpful to point out how unnatural our SAD really is.
