So Im only starting my raw journey as an experiment but I would really like to keep it for longer. Noone supports me though.. Im tough myself so it doesnt matter that much in my daily life, but then come the parties...
And as long as it is ok not to drink Im not sure what the reaction would be if I dont eat any of the foods my hosts will serve..
Im going to a little celebration (ok.. its a cat's bday :D) on saturday, it will be day 10 of my Rawness and I dont think I will want to stop/interrupt it there... but I know they can be either suspicious (diet, anorexia?!) or offended if I dont eat anything. Im sure there will be salad but will definitely contain some sort of dressing or ham or something.
If I tell them Im eating only raw they will think I went mad...
Any suggestions? How to survive this? ;)

If all else fails, just explain that you became a raw vegan and be very casual about it. Also, you are going to have to go through this stage eventually. You might as well just be open and honest about it, otherwise you are going to continue to be worried about going out in social situations.
Permalink Reply by dandelion on April 18, 2012 at 12:26pm I can sympathise with your worry over what people will think. But, you know, just relax. I've found that saying very little works best. What you do with your body is your business, not theirs. Take the fruit platter - that sounds like a lovely idea. But don't even explain what you choose to eat there. If offered, just say 'no thanks, not right now" and they won't even notice that you don't ever have any. Don't focus your attention on it and other people won't either. Instead engage people in conversations about their lives and their cats. People are much more interested in talking about themselves than you.
You might feel stronger to brooch the topic of diet/food some other time when you have some runs on the board with this diet.
Have fun at the party :)

Don't succumb to peer pressure. If "friends" impose social sanctions against you for abstaining from using meat, find some new friends.
Permalink Reply by glettkau on April 19, 2012 at 12:10am it wouldn't be much about the meat, more about 'oh sure you're on a diet but you dont have to, you look ok, here's some.. quasedilla?' kinda thing. i dont think they would actually understand this as a lifestyle change. you see.. polish people are always negative ;)
