Hey,
I've been drinking my green tea in the mornings and a cup of milk thistle tea at night (to alleviate some of this serious bloating I've been experiencing since I started eating 811, earlier this week).
I realize that boiled water is obviously ''cooked'' and not raw, but I'm curious if boiled water can actually affect the effects of this diet.
Also, has anyone experienced bloat on this diet in the beginning? It's really frustrating.
Thanks :)

If it is due to this there is plenty you can do and ready David Klien's book on digestion would be a great place to start. http://www.vibranthealthandwealth.com/bookstore/bookstore-individua...

Permalink Reply by Kerri Tamar on February 17, 2012 at 2:23pm Thanks for the chewing on ginger tip! I love the ginge- always juice and/or cut up into smoothies, never really thought to chew on it between meals, but I imagine that that could aid my digestion significantly.
My previous diet (before eating 60-70% high fat raw vegan), was essentially a paleo diet, high in fat and very minimal carbs. So perhaps I am reacting to the reintroduction of carbs? F! That makes me so angry and in turn, just want to quit this diet. But alas, I feel so alive...I wonder how long it will take my body to adjust to the carbohydrates.
No GI issues, though I had bulimia for a long time (but I've been in recovery for a year +, and my digestion seemed to even out completely on the paleo diet).

But I agree, it may be the combination of food choices. Mono meals will set you straight for sure....and drink enough water to "pass" things thru your system.

Permalink Reply by Kerri Tamar on February 22, 2012 at 7:54am Hey Michelle,
Yes! When I was on the paleo diet I had a bowel movement at least once a day (and a verrry healthy one at that); however I have been going once every other day since going 811 (and its not very good quality, either). I was wondering if I was eating too many bananas...you know how they constipate you (on traditional diets), but I've been eating an average of 7-8 per day, which seems to be the norm; then i thought perphaps it was the celery I'm using (I think celery is high in sodium). I use about a stalk of celery/day.
Thank you for your reply.

This advice is awesome, can't thank you enough.
My bananas haven't been ripe because I detest eating whole ripe bananas, but I suppose if i'm blending, it's cool.
Thank you for the soluble/insoluble fiber lesson, I didn't realize that the insoluble pushed things out. Ive only been using a bunch of spinach in my dinner smoothies. Other than that, I've been using celery with my fruit smoothies for break and lunch- but I think it may be adding to the problemo.
Also, I've been sort of hesitant about including dates, because of the high sugar content, and the reason for that is because they seem to trigger my lyme disease symptoms (like mild neuropathy and such)...I was eating raw date balls last month and my body was constantly on fire....although, they were combined with nuts and nut butter.
Maybe I'll give em another try...
Thanks again!

started including dates the other day and I started going to the bathroom immediately! This is wonderful. Though, sometimes if I eat more than ten a day they seem to bother my poor vagina.
thanks again :)
Permalink Reply by Kerri Tamar on February 26, 2012 at 1:34pm Hey-
I'm combining both mejules and the indian kind; I do soak them before blending but usually only for 10 min. I do sometimes eat a few whole ones when I snack but I dont have a meal out of them, whole...
I don't have to poop immediately, but about an hour-two hours after, always. It's great!
Yes! It feels exactly like a yeast inf. is coming on when I eat more than ten dates- it's strange. I'm hyper sensitive, it feels like my candida symptoms come back. But so far nothing has manifested, thank goodness- it's just a very uncomfortable feeling.
