30 Bananas a Day!

Hi,

The reason I'm asking is because I work long shifts and start early in the morning so I like to prep my meals the night before.

As I'm still very new to 801010, I'm finding it much easier to get all my fruit down in the form of smoothies. Also, I'm just not comfortable eating 15 bananas in one sitting in front of my work colleagues as they will probably accuse me of having an eating disorder (I already get teased for being a vegan). I think after I've lived this way for some time, people's opinions won't affect me anymore but at the moment I'm still concious of it.

So anyway, will a banana smoothie keep for a day?? Could I preserve it by adding a bit of lemon juice for example? Does the type of storage container make a difference?

I would be grateful for any advice :-)

Thank you

If you can manage, get up 5 minutes earlier.  Personally, I don't like the taste even 1/2 hour after it is made, and my guess is that the vitamin content will not have dissipated.

I make mine in the morning and they keep just fine for several hours, even without being kept in the fridge; I would think they would keep overnight too, if you put them in the fridge overnight, but I'd love to hear if others have experience with this.

I always fill each container to the top, so there's very little air in the container, which I think might help in terms of preventing oxidation.  I always drink the container that's not full first, and once I start a container, I usually finish it relatively soon.  I've never added lemon juice, but I suppose you could (just a tiny bit), although it feels to me like lemon and banana don't really seem like a very appealing combination.

I make mine when I first get up, at 6 am.  I don't eat them until about 12 and I don't refrigerate them either and they are fine!  I would think the night before would be no problem at all.

Thank you for the replies everyone! :-)

I'll try it and let you know how it goes!

i have shift work where i work evenings then mornings and would be kicked out by my housemates if i blended late at night lol so i do mine the day before and though they dont taste like just mades smoothies they still taste fantastic and i feel fine. (usually eat the brown off the top too..)
