Hello everyone!  I'm heading onto Banana Island tomorrow - this will be my first visit and I am committing to 4 days and at the end of 4 days - well, we'll see.  My ultimate goal would be to do 21 straight days - which is how many days are left before my 36th B-day.

I had a blood transfusion 2 weeks ago due to extremely poor blood quality. I was literally 'The Walking Dead' and I know that my health is very poor. Also, I desperately need to lose 30 lbs. I am hoping that Banana Island will help me get better all together.

I'm so grateful for this group because I know there is somewhere I can go to talk about how I'm feeling... I live in a house full of men/boys and even though they love me, they get the glazed look in their eye's when I start talking about my eating objectives. :)    I hope you are all doing wonderfully on your island get-away's!  I'm so happy to be here!

Hello! I'm intending to do one week banana island! I've been on 811 for about 3 weeks now, but occasionally eat cooked food for dinner when I can't get hold of enough ripen fruits. I really want to leap into 811 fully, and to do so I want to do BI to do a clean start. So Excited!!

I'm on day 1 of banana island! I eat about 5-6 bananas per meal 4x a day. By the time I get to eating the last banana I want to spit it out. I'm not really prepared for this to be a long BI anyway, it will probably only last 3 days because I'll run out of ripe bananas. I need to get in touch with the produce guy at my grocery store so that I can buy boxes at a time, maybe that will help.

I'm assuming most of you guys buy boxes at a time, if so, do you keep them in the box until they are ripened? or do you have to set them out in the open or on a closet shelf in order for them to ripen properly?

hey guys. im on day 3 of banana island and i plan on doing a week. im not a huge fan of the bananas here in maui they just dont taste the same as the ones in california when i lived there. bananas are the only island i can do though cuz i tried mango island and couldnt get my hands on enough ripe mangos to last a week. so i have a hard time getting bananas down without blending them and adding a few frozen bananas to the smoothie. is it ok/still optimal if all my my consist of banana smoothies that are kind of/slightly cold? im already starting to become a little repulsed by bananas im so sad! cuz i really wanna get through the week. i have serious melon belly issues with every meal and it takes me an hour and a half to get through a large smoothie. i had posted a question about it a bit ago and harley said i need to go on banana island for a week and it will be cured. i so badly want to cure it! if anyone has any tips on how to help me stay on banana island id much appreicate it :)

hey wendy. I just want to say that when I was first  starting banana island, i wasn't sure if I could make it. But every banana I eat just gets tastier and tastier! And the way it makes me feel is so worth it.

Well, all, I'm going to buy another box of bananas today, but I think I'm going to wean myself off of the island and start adding other fruits into my diet. I can't believe it, but I'm actually SCARED. Before the island I thought I knew how to eat 80-10-10, but now I'm absolutely sure that I didn't. I was undercarbed and underfed. Now I know I want monomeals and more carbs more carbs more carbs! Can I get them all from other fruits? We'll see! Wish me luck, and I wish you all luck on your continued island adventures! I'm sure I'll be back soon! xoxoxo

Systa, I absolutely know how you feel. My first few days on BI I was shocked by how hard it was to get them all down! Gave me new respect for my VitaMix. :) Dovima, YES. I've had mild nausea on and off on the island. Worse when I'm menstrual. Like Bella, the smell when I walk into my apartment knocks me off my feet sometimes. It turns my stomach sometimes, and if I eat my bananas too fast I deal with nausea for the better part of the day. But I just sort of deal with it, drink more water, and pretend it's not bothering me, because I know if I go back to eating cooked food I will feel WAY worse!

It makes me want to make and drink green juice.....I mean, that can't be a bad thing!

Anyone been able to work through some nausea on banana island?

More Exercise = More Weight Loss?

For 5 weeks I dramatically increased the number of miles I ran, while maintaining the same diet, to see how that would effect weight loss. The common view is that it's battle of calories in vs. calories burnt. is it?
