Generally, the idea is to eat only bananas, or if you feel you really need another, bananas + one other fruit. Otherwise, bananas + greens (for their important nutritional/mineral content).

Achieving the many possible benefits from BI is based upon the consumption of a single fruit which simplifies digestion and allows the body to devote more energy to the elimination of fat and toxins from the body. 

If you start adding in more ingredients, you won't be getting the intended benefits and instead are essentially just having typical multi-fruit smoothies, not doing Banana Island.

If by other fruit you mean cukes or zucchini or maybe green pepper then yeah I suppose you could add in other fruits. I believe the idea of banana island is bananas and greens/non-sweet fruits. The bulk of bananas comes from calories-erp-you know what I mean :-P

If I had money for everytime someone said to me eating bananas makes me fat, I could buy Banana Island :p

Since I made good experiences with my banana mono meals for lunch, I am planning a short trip to banana island (3 days). Actually I thought this would mean to eat only bananas but now I just read in this group some put also greens in their smoothies or combine their bananas with other fruit? Can someone explain why? ~Cora

When buying my first load of bananas the cashier was trying to tell me that she read that you shouldnt eat more than 1-2 bananas a day because the potassium will mess with your potassium: sodium ratios. I told her I already eat 10-15 a day and she looked like shed seen a ghost.

I met a lady yesterday an she asked why so many nanas ? i told her they detox the body ,an she goes id get fat if i ate all those  bananas .    lol she ex[;ained because of all the fructose in them . my eyes rolled an i thought omg not another misguided soul, I told her all that is a myth its crap fruit is good an slimming

Me and the hubs r waiting for our bananas to rippen. Then we start. Any tips for a couple doing it together while still feed our 3 young boys vegan cooked? Thanks!

I want to ask Harley or Freelee about this.

I was waiting till my bananas were practically rotten before eating them, drinking loads of water and they were still really constipating to me. My guess is that it's because they're picked so unripe, but that doesn't explain how so many people in North America seem to do great on bananas. I was thinking about trying to push through it on banana island until my system somehow acclimated to it, but I'm not sure if that even makes sense and I don't want to clog myself for no reason. I want a long-termer's thoughts

Hey everyone! I have a question. I'm on day 63 of eating hclf 3000 calories a day. After day 12 on banana island, I noticed that I gained weight. I don't weigh myself, but I've had to buy new clothes. I'm coming to the end of the second month, keeping it hclf eating lots of fruit. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I'm not as concerned about the weight gain anymore, but I am curious if anyone has gone through this, and what I should expect the upcoming months. Thanks everyone :)
