A question on weight loss.... I'm starting day four of Banana Island and I'm losing a pound a day (I am 4 ft 10 and around 230, so very heavy) ... is this ok? Obviously weight loss is going to make me happy, but I'm doing B.I. to clean my palate and hopefully re-train my taste buds. I've only been LFRV for around three months so this is still all pretty new to me. Thanks for any info/opinions. :)
Comment by sally on June 18, 2012 at 1:36pm To RawGirl, hi, i never heard that colonoscopies are bad or hard on a person as you said in your comment, I had one done and there was a polyp removed and it is good to remove them when small for obvious reasons and also to prevent it from potentially becoming cancerous. Since one was found, it is recommended for me to have another colonoscopy done every five years. I look forward to it, as I want to live a long time. Hope this helps you get over the fear of it. Besides, the specialist who do these proceedures, ...well, that is nearly all they do and so they are so good at it that you would most likely be fine.
Alagaia: I think Harley worked out the math in his head. You'd have to eat something like 4000 bananas at one sitting to have a potassium overdose. :)
Comment by Alagaia on June 17, 2012 at 9:15pm So.. bananas are my most readily available food making this lifestle possible however i'm a nurse in an emergency department where i often take care of patients with high potassium who are on heart monitors.. i get comments from people who say they won't eat bananas at all as the potassium content is too high.. i retort that i balance this with the calcium of my greens.. but don't know extensively how this works out as i know there are thousands of you out there who have not yet droped dead from a heart attack from potassium overdose..
could someone shed any light on this?
What's the longest someone's been on Banana Island?

Yes, colonoscopies and the like aren't things to rush into! You could try monoing on grapes for a while to heal your colon- this did wonders for me :)
Take care,
