Hey, guys! Sorry for the silence yesterday. Long day! I got 28 bananas down yesterday and a ton of water. (6L) It wasn't enough water. I work outside, and I'm a bit burned from this week already. The burn plus the active-ness of this week plus my meds have dehydrated me big-time. My lips are actually a big indicator. When they start to dry up, I know I need another liter. I was about 2L shy of good yesterday. :( The big news, though, is that since starting this whole adventure, I'm down about 6lbs. This is huge news, because weight loss is a major necessity (I'm 5'9" and over 200lbs and desperately need to get that taken care of, not for vanity's sake but for health's). So yay!

Ellen: I honestly know nothing about mangoes and constipation. So sorry. If they were bananas I'd say they weren't ripe and to pound the water big-time and have patience. But with mangoes I just have no idea? Are the rules the same? Anyone? Maybe windlord knows?

Kump: 2 days off was actually cool in a way because it was a fun break and it appeased my family's worries that I'm completely insane. ;) On the other hand, it totally stressed me out because it was NOT in my plans, and now I don't know if I call this Day 9 or Day 3? Is it cheating to call it Day 9? Is 2 days enough of a vacation from the island to come back and start again? Meh. Do I really want to obsess over it that much? :) I'm calling it Day 9 this time. Next time when I do this again, I'll not take a 2-day break and generate this sort of drama. :) See you tomorrow for Day 10!

Hey twids, what was it like 2 days off? Ellenfisher I am jealous of your mango abundance in Hawaii! I think that's fine about the greens and herbs if that will make you stick with it and make you feel better.

i also have a small concern. i start 2 days ago. and I'm now having some constipation and gas its so weird. i didnt have this feeling for over 3 weeks before i started my mango island. yesterday i drank 5 liters of water and 25 good sized mangos. is this normal in the beginning? im very confused i figured my digestion would get even better!

Hey, all! I'm back! 30 bananas down today, and 5+L of water. Yay! Long day at work and I'm actually still a bit peckish. I may try for more than 30 tomorrow. Woot! :)

Ellen: Welcome! I don't know what Harley and Freelee recommend exactly, but what I've read in this group is that if your body asks for greens, go ahead and eat them. But if it doesn't, skip 'em. :) Hope your mangoes treated you well today! :)

hey everyone! i just started mango island today! its almost dinner time and cant wait to dive into my mangos. i live in maui and its mango season here so the mangos are literally heaven. im trying to heal my melon bellly issues and this is what harley told me to do, a mono fruit island. so here i am! i have a question, are we allowed to include lettuce and herbs like cilantro? i remember reading somewhere that dr. graham includes greens on his islands for helping people but im not sure if this is how 30bananasaday does it. i want to do it the way freelee and harley recommend. please let me know thanks!

Hi, all. Well, I'm having to take a 2-day break from Banana Island. I wrote about why on my blog, but here I'll just say I ran out of ripe bananas and have to look elsewhere for my glucose for a bit. I am resolved to return and try again though. See you tomorrow!

Hello! After my 12 days, I felt my digestion improved alot. I have immense digestive issues to heal, so 12 days was not enough. However, I needed a break. I was an extremely constipated person and something happened in my gut. I have chronic pelvic floor pain, immense food sensitivities, bloat, possible leaky gut, etc. very painful. My brother has celiac, my grandma had diverticulosis, my dad has stomach issues, and the list goes on. i know it may be a compound of issues for me!! Banana island has helped but I feel I need more time for my body to heal. Eating only bananas will take less energy for digestion and my body will use that energy elsewhere.

Hi twids, thanks for the friendly welcome :)

I've been 90% HCRV (other 10% was a test - HCCV: did it for 2 weeks and went back to raw) for almost 15 months. So yeah, I can fit a lot of fruit in my belly :)

Due to the 2 week cooked vegan experiment, I am having some edema as well, and this is also the reason why I want to go on banana island, to rid my body of the toxins that are still left from that. My husband meant well of course when he thought "yay, now I can cook for you again, just like the old days!" Sure, it was all vegan and low fat, but my body just didn't respond very well from that. Raw all the way now for sure :)

I am usually not hungry either, right after waking up, but usually eat before work too, otherwise I will get way too hungry later on. I don't "force" my food in, but normally after the first bite, my body will ask for more. Bananas keep me energized and full the longest. Then I get hungry again by the time I have my lunch break. Just try having breakfast from now on, and your body will get used to it!

I am glad that your wound and edema are healing, have a great day and enjoy your bananas :)

Hey, Nerdada, welcome to the island! If you can already get that much fruit down, you're going to have no trouble here! :)

I just finished day 7, and now it's on to day 8. Today I'm worried because I have a super early start (out to door in a few minutes, 5:30am), and I'm not yet hungry...but I won't have a chance to eat much once work starts. Gah! This is going to be tough, but I may just need to keep shoving down a banana or two as I go and see how that works. I have had a cut on my face that wouldn't heal and just kept opening up. It's finally healing. Yay! The swelling in my ankles (edema) is finally going down a bit more (will go up again today because I'm outside in the hot sun all day), and my energy levels are steadily rising without the help of coffee. :) I bought my 3rd box of bananas yesterday and I'm scared they won't ripen before I'm ready for them. Oh! And I got up to 30 bananas yesterday! Woot!

Today's my biggest challenge yet. Here we go! Have a great day, all! xoxoxo

Hi Fruity Fitness, thanks for your reply :)

Right now I am eating my 5kg watermelon for breakfast, yumyum...
How do you feel after your 12day banana island?

I am active every day for at least 30 minutes. I run and lift weights. I am in the sun for at least 2hrs daily. My sleep and digestion have never been better. Sleep about 9hrs a night and digestion 3x a day. And I used to have chronic constipation! :D (Sorry for TMI)

Have a great day everyone :))
