nice - i wanna live with another rawie if possible tho...  either on my own (for the first time ever) or with an 811, or hifat raw even - even just vegan would be okay i suppose.

Hi Danielle and Patty Ann!

Austin is awesome! So progressive and liberal and fun. LOTS of very cool, artistic, conscious types here. A real sense of fun and community as well.

Central, East or South Austin are the more progressive areas. Lots of great biking and hiking and watering holes. Check out Barton Springs to start with.

My GF has a room available for rent in her duplex in South East Austin in January for $475 all bills paid per month with two other females if anyone is interested.

Come to Austin! Its very cool! :-)

Hey family - I'm thinking about moving to Austin around March?  Which is to say, I need to find a place to live and I always hear good things about Austin.

Right now my parents live in Florida and I'm kinda getting used to the fruit here.  What's fruit life like out there?   What about bike life?  Green spaces (like, grass and lakes, as opposed to the concrete and old people they have here in SFlorida)?  Cost of living?

What's it like out there?  What are your favorite and least favorite things about Austin?

Thanks for the help,

DanDann

Hi Jess,

Oh, I wish I would have know about the TG Day of Rememberence. I totally would have gone. My partner identifies as TG and that might have opened her eyes to the Occupy movement a bit more.

We should get together for a smoothie whenever you make it "to town" from Lakeway. LOL.

I'd love to get all the Austin folks together as well!

Hi Jess,

I'm very active in other ways and support alot of the ideals the Occupy folks have but have not chosen to get involved in concrete way yet.

It's interesting.. my partner is a first responder and had some strong opinions about how taking to the streets puts a huge toll on  public servants and city resources and stresses everyone out and she feels that other forms of social activism are more productive and less costly...

It's sparked some interesting discussion around the house lately...

I also find I have to choose how and where I direct my energies wisely or else its so easy to get out of balance and overwhelmed...its hard to decide which of the causes and concerns to be more proactive about..

Have you been? My roommate is a UT student and knows some of the folks organizing the first aid team
