I thought this site needed a group for fellow meditators as am sure there are many of you concious beings on here!! Thought we could use this to share our experiences, discuss different types of practice, retreats, difficulties, books, insights and other spiritual purification techniques such as pranayamas, chanting etc.

Hi. Has anyone here tried chanting meditation? I tried to chant Om using a mala beads necklace and it was great but they say that you have to chant as many times as there is of beads, or any multiple number of 108 which is the numer of beads if you wish to do it for longer. So i did a whole 108 on my first meditation and boy that was a bad idea. It took me about 20 minutes and when i finished i was so exhausted i had to lie down for a minute before being able to continue my day, and then i was spaced out, i mean completely spaced out for the rest of the week. So my question is, does anyone know how many times we should recite mantras on a chanting meditation to be safe and healthy in the beginning?

I find meditation far easier after 15 mins of Qi Gong or similar. Focusing on the gentle movements, coupled with the breathing, pulls in into the right frame of mind to start meditating :)

Yes, Tenanda, with our focused love, light and intention we can powerfully uplift the energies of the planet.  Thank you for this powerful message and suggestion.

I am still transitioning and am not used to such energy.  Intense!!  It is amazing this food.  Thoughts and feelingsexist on a whole other plane.  Like completely separate entities.  I breath out and I am meditating.  Remarkable, really.

I am definitely more conscious on a fruit based diet. Even on steamed vegetables I find it hard to relax, it's as though there are blockades.

Allison,

On the contrary, I find that a fruit based diet has resulted in deeper meditations. I find it easier to calm the thoughts on a fruit-based diet, probably because my body has less impurities to deal with.

Peace and blessings

Hi guys.  Question for ya....does anyone experience too much energy from bananas.  And or do you find that bananas or other fruits can cause an increase in thoughts due to increased energy, and so your mind is just rambling on and it may be hard to focus or stay in the now?

Hello B'jaia Ben, I am just starting so thank you for your sharing your ideas. Tomorrow I'm going to my first meditation group where we have a raw food potluck.
