Comment by L J on April 19, 2013 at 6:19am Hi Scandinavia 811ers!
My name is LJ and I have close family in Sweden and I try to visit them when I can, though it is very far as I live in Vancouver. The next time I visit them I would like to do some more travelling around Scandinavia as well.
I wanted to use this as an opportunity to network with other 811ers in Scandinavia, and to offer up myself and my couch if you are coming to Vancouver this summer! I am a couchsurfing host, and I love meeting new people and showing them around Vancouver. I'd also be very excited to meet other 811ers, as I currently don't know any! I have an extra bicycle, and cycling around Vancouver is absolutely the best thing to do here in the summer! It is a very bicycle friendly city. So, be sure to send me a msg if you are coming my way!

Comment by Silex on April 10, 2013 at 7:21am Hi Blake, here are some Norway updates:
Unfortunately, the restaurant Helt Rå in Sandvika is closed.
The best organic foods stores for fresh products are Røtter http://roetter.no and Røtter St. Hanshaugen has the best choice.
Otherwise there is a limited choice of organic fresh vegetables and fruits in most supermarkets, where you might expect to find cucumber, lettuce, bananas, apples, oranges, tasteless tomatoes, avocados, carrots, broccoli, squash.
IMHO best are Coop Prix.
It is hard to find good ripen bananas in supermarkets, they are discarded as soon as they show a stain…
As Veronica and Rob indicate, the next choice are the asian stores all over the place, you might accidentally find some organic products, other wise best choice of fruits and vegetables. You'll find those in Kristiansand too.

I live in Grønland in Oslo, it would be cool to hang out a bit. :)
I could show you were to get some ok fruit.
Also there's the Oslo vegatarian festival on May 4th. All vegan stuff but not much hcrv except for me and my stand.
Comment by Veronica Hallgren on April 10, 2013 at 4:14am Hi Blake!
In an area called Grönland (close to bus/trainstation) there are plenty of fruitshops, not organice though but cheaper. They sell also cheap dates. Oslo is expensive if you are looking for organic fruit!
You can find a shop called Helios (maybe Naturlivis nowadays) at Hausmannsgate quite central located, which sells organic fruit and some other rawfood things. They have also a shop at Majorstue opposite Vigelandsparken.
At Övre Slottsgate in the center, close to Karl Johan, you can find Supernature which have a lot of raw snacks and other things, also a shop on your way to Majorstue.
Hm, at Ullevålsveien there is a healthstore that also sell some rawfood things...
And there is a restaurant in Sandvika, far away from the center though. I haven´t been there but people say it´s nice. I think it´s called Helt Rå(tt?)!
About Kristiansand-I don´t know anything!
Good luck and have a nice trip:=)
