Hey all. I've been dating an extrovert for about 6 months now and have finally realized how much we rub each other the wrong way and how much work it is to stay together. We're both looking for validation, love and to share happiness, but we go about it such different ways. Our personality differences make the relationship blow up every week or so.
The basic difference between: an intro recharges their batteries by being along; an extro recharges by being with people. After a long day at work, an intro would want to read quietly, meditate or listen to music, while an extro would want to talk at length about the day.
So I'm wondering, and willing to bet, that a lot of the fruity peeps here are introverts. I feel it takes a lot of alone time away from society to develop the consciousness needed to advance to a 80-10-10 diet. Introverts have this built into their personality. It seems that an extrovert would feel weird going against the norm.
Let's hear from the group: do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert?

Good topic!
I think we are all sometimes introvert and sometimes extrovert people. But, maybe you are right in the fact that going against the rule means that you dedicate long times to observe and think a lot about "present reality" and how it makes you feel. If it doesnt make you sense, then you dedicate much time to think how you want it to be, what would be "right" for you to follow and to build. In other words, developing consciousness.
I define myself more introvert than extrovert, but it can change, specially if you begin to relate with people more like yourself =)
Hope every fruityfellow are having a nice weekend =) Love and happiness for all!
Permalink Reply by Marc Faucher on April 8, 2012 at 6:20am its very typical also of girls to want to talk about the day and talk talk like you say, where as man, just want to be alone with them selves.
Permalink Reply by Rachel Fleming on April 8, 2012 at 9:31am Hmm. I am definitely an inrtovert. I need time away from people to slow down and think. I do like going out and being in crowds, though, because I have a lot of fun around people.
In regards to a relationship, however, I actually find that I like having an extroverted partner because it brings out my crazy side. :P
Permalink Reply by Natalia Maella on April 8, 2012 at 11:52am Hiya! This topic is very interesting!! I'm 100% extrovert.. so I might be an exception! I love being in crowds even being myself the one that bring up topics to talk about.. The way I live this way of living is sharing it everywhere.. my personality needs to speak out and I tend to spread the word all the time.. (I can be annoying sometimes xD) On the other hand, I also need my time alone... reading, listening to music etc...
Permalink Reply by Jack on April 8, 2012 at 12:25pm 200 % introvert. Social situations almost always drain my energy, and there are few things I experience as more uncomfortable than large, loud crowds. If there's loud "music" to boot, I feel like a fish on dry land, quickly dying unless I get back to my own, calm waters.
Being alone recharges me, especially with meditation, nature and peaceful music. I do like to socialise when I truly feel like it, and especially on those rare occasions when I find someone on or near my frequency. Those are probably the only social situations which I don't experience as draining, though some situations drain my energy more, others less. Particularly insecurities disguised under bravado, machoism and the like feel like an octopus squeezing my soul.
I sense extroverts from several feet away and there's never much in common, so I never get to the dating stage. On the other hand, when I find someone quiet, at peace with and enjoying being just herself, contemplative and intelligent, I can hear Bach's Air on the G string playing in my soul, and so can she.

Permalink Reply by Mountain Bike Mike on April 9, 2012 at 12:01pm Oooops. This introvert vs. Extrovert comparison led me down the rabbit hole of the Myers-Briggs personality type testing. I find it important to remember that, even though it seems that everyone is and wants me to be an extrovert, it's okay to be introverted.
Turns out I'm an INTJ. Yikes!! Here's the test if anyone's interested in their type ...

Finally, an interesting depiction of the different personality types ...

I must say the personality description it gave (counselor) is pretty spot on, particularly the last paragraph - though I prefer to avoid all organisations and work on my own (which I do). And I definitely share my emotions, though preferably through poetry. Do you have the link for INTJ personality description?
