I used to happily eat tons of salad but I would put olive oil, lemon, garlic, salt and pepper on them . Now when I eat a salad without the dressing it is just bleck! I can barely eat it. I've tried a few raw dressings like mango and tomato, tahini and lemon, corn and tomato, avocado, tomato, and cilantro... but nothing seems to satisfy. I know I need the greens...so my question is: Does it get better? Will my taste buds come to enjoy such a plain salad?

Permalink Reply by Clara on June 24, 2012 at 12:58pm YES! In my experience totally, I love plain greens now. But sometimes I do still like to put a bunch of fresh herbs in my salad such as thyme, basil, cilantro, dill, etc. When I first started eating salads I would put a dressing on them made from avocado and cucumber, which has a really good texture (and sometimes add some lemon juice) or sometimes I will make a sort of pesto (basil, green onions, avocado-sometimes and other herbs) on my salad. I don't like sweet dressings, or too lemony dressings.... You could also try shredding up the lettuce really small, when I was first starting out I found that made it easier to eat. You could add some young coconut meat to your salad or sprinkle some seeds on it! But yeah, salads that are really plain totally taste wonderful to me now.
I also love spinach soup, blended with tomatoes and celery! Or you could make green smoothies, but I also think those are kinda gross sometimes :P! Hope you find something you like.

Permalink Reply by Lala M. Apples on June 24, 2012 at 3:11pm I know this isn't really considered a salad. But if you are concerned about green things. I make a "salad" with chopped apple, grapes and celery which is really good. Kind of like sweet and salty popcorn. LOL. Anyways - just another way to get the green stuff in without having to worry about dressing. Good luck!
