30 Bananas a Day!

WHY THE §%=?*#€ DO SO MANY PEOPLE OVERRATE BREAD???!!! ARRRGGGH!!!!

So, here's the thing.

A wrote a long-time acquaintance of mine, whom I haven't written to for a couple of months. He knew the whole time that I was vegan - and even then I didn't eat bread. When I sent him links to explain my new 811-lfrv lifestyle, he gave a brainless response, which I hadn't expected from him, even though he's SAD (but was always open and tolerant of veganism).

His response: "What do you eat then??? Does that mean you don't eat bread????!!!!"

How would you respond to something like that? I want to be honest and let him know I find that response (the tone) rude and narrow-minded, even though I know he wouldn't attack me on purpose. But I don't want to create friction, especially because we've never fought.

I also want to/will nicely remind him that it also means I don't want him to send me nuts anymore. He's always sent me nuts for Christmas, which even then I ended up giving to friends instead (without telling him). At least he knew/respected that I don't consume salt.

You have to understand the cultural background of bread.  Bread has been the staple food for Europe and much of the world for a long time.  It comes as I shock to many people that you wouldn't eat the main food source.  It would be the equivalence of saying you don't eat rice in Asia.

Yeah, I know that actually. But I still find it sad that people are so brainwashed and dependente.

This is reminding me of something I read last night in the 811 book. It says,

" The gluten-containing grains (primarily wheat, but also rye and barley, and oats) contain at least fifteen opioid sequences, which are strongly addictive, morphine-like substances that have potent psychoactive properties and produce serious neurological disorders, constipation, urinary retention, nausea, vomiting, cough suppression, and other symptoms." (pg 94)

I would let your friend know that bread is not an essential food and that is, in fact, addictive and quite dangerous to eat.

(I was in awe when I read this last night because I always said I was addicted to bread and that it messed up my mind but people would just roll their eyes.)

Thanks Grittyjane. :)

Whole wheat bread > white bread imo. Dont bother with his comments. Raws are in the minority. Less than 1% I think. Stick around the people who would understand.

Because for some of us bread is like an addiction. For me that was the hardest food to give up.

And than I realized I was acctually gluten intolerant. And that all my problems (chronic diarrhea, weight gain, alopecia areata, constant tiredness) were all caused by gluten.

Still it was very hard to give it up.
