I can not see any logical reason why one would believe in a god as there is no evidence for an actual god existing. That's why I wonder why so many people believe in a god.
So why do you believe in a god? :)

Ridiculous. The atoms in your body are like solar systems. You are a model, a microcosm of the great macrocosm. Isn't that just obvious? If you know yourself entirely, not only do you know the Universe, but you know God. It's plane; it's simple. We live in a very dark world.

ROFLMAO
Permalink Reply by The Humane Hominid on August 2, 2012 at 10:48am You find it amusing?
Yeah, cuz it's not true. The Rutherford model failed to explain the data and was abandoned almost 100 years ago.
Atoms are not little solar systems and don't behave anything like little solar systems.
So, I find it amusing when "spiritual" people cite incorrect science to make a spiritual point.

Truly! The Bohr model of the atom may be pretty and simple, but it's complete BS.

So do I. I wish people would start seeing science as what it really is. You can't prove God's existence by using logical or scientific arguments.

It's a curious phenomenon, to be sure. I think it speaks to the power and credibility of the scientific method that everyone wants to claim its mantle for their own ideas. Unfortunately, most who do are either unwilling or unable to apply its tools to their ideas, for fear that it'll prove them wrong, as it does with most ideas.
I'm especially amused by people who are always ready with an analogy to quantum mechanics and evolution, who demonstrate in using it that they understand neither.

Nope. Just amused, and having a laugh at the expense of mystics' presumptions of "wisdom." And giving them the mockery they deserve.
If I were outraged, I wouldn't be involved in the thread at all. What does outrage me, though, is seeing so many beautiful, intelligent, creative people around the world squandering their energy and their lives with devotion to fairy tales.
I wonder, does anyone still believe in Zeus?

God is also hate. God is all things. What is so difficult to believe?
Permalink Reply by fruitsandnumbers on August 4, 2012 at 1:30am I don't see how that works... If the created beings create evil things, doesn't that mean evil must already be present in those beings themselves?
If God created everything, then everything has to be already present in God, isn't it? How can anything come into being indirectly?
But wait: even then, you do acknowledge that God has created evil, even if only indirectly. But if he has created evil, doesn't that mean there is evil in him?
how do you differentiate between potential for evil and evil itself?
and: what is evil anyway, in the first place?
