Permalink Reply by joce on August 31, 2011 at 6:03pm I live in Cali, in the Santa Cruz / Boulder Creek area. IMO the fog isn't a big deal and the mild/warm weather makes up for it, roads can be avoided or biked on, "exorbitant" is relative and there are many tips to living cheap to offset that (growing own food, foraging, simplifying, bartering, etc.), big yes to the beautiful weather/beaches/women/fruit, the produce is beyond delicious and varied, the nature breathtaking... but yes, my positivity can feel a little squashed sometimes too about the high unemployment :)
But all in all I highhhhhhhhhhly recommend it, especially this area if you're into surfing/skating.
