I've got deep concerns about our environment, but honestly, I'm not doing much right now. I've just got a small apartment, so no garden. I do try to eat locally and avoid corporations, and set a good example with my raw vegan lifestyle. When an opportunity presents itself, I'll tell others about my feelings on this. But I don't preach about it.
@ MedjoolFan It is not about preaching, but we are all rearranging deck chairs on the titanic unless there is a change I guess its all about a collective consciousness being raised by what ever means is deemed fit and right to the individual.
@ Maggie thanks for the complement, and you are right on Margret is a real sweetie, I think there definitely is a grounding and health benefit to being connected to the earth via growing and gardening.
I am very active in sustainable living in my community.
First off, I try to live as sustainable as possible. I got rid of my truck last summer and now ride my bike everywhere (I survived the winter! woo hoo!). I clean houses and make all my own cleaning products by hand as well as...of course...ride my bike to all my jobs.
I dont buy anything new if at all possible. I recycle everything. I dont even have a garbage can in my house, just recycle bins.
I use cloth napkins, tp, etc., I just wash them and re-use them.
I am working right now on getting ready to plant three different gardens.
I hang dry all my clothes. I got rid of my refriderator...who needs one when you eat all fresh fruit and veggies. I got rid of my a/c and I am currently contemplating how hard it would be to ditch my washing machine and hand wash all my clothes. I try to use as little electricity as possible and eventually want to get completely off the grid.
This summer I plan on eating only locally grown fruit and veggies...which means no banana's :(
I drain all my dish water and bath water outside into my garden.
I compost all my food scraps.
I actually just ordered a book called Humanure and am thinking of ditching my toilet as well and composting all my waste..even though supposedly this is illegal...hmm...oh well...mine is all recycled fruit and veggies.
I'm sure there is more that I am not thinking of right now...but you get the general idea :)
In the community I am involved in a local sustainable living group and we brainstorm ways to make our community more sustainable.
Sustainable living is my passion at this time, besides fruit :)
I try to live my life as an example of how to survive, be happy and love the earth.
I just focus on what I can do to make my life and the earth a better, greener and cleaner place.
I couldnt' watch your video:( My old dial up computer system it's able to watch video's but I'm sure it was fantastic.
