Permalink Reply by Greg Allen on January 7, 2011 at 5:57am Scientific backing that humans are anthropoid primates? Are you seriously questioning this well known fact?
I live in a more protected environment than my anthropoid cousins-no wind, no direct sunlight most of the time, no excessive heat, etc. I am exposed to more toxins. So probably very similar water requirements to other anthropoids. The fact that I pee voluminously and often without drinking fluids tells me I'm getting plenty.
Full disclosure-I recently began consuming dateraid so I now use water to make it up. The first 2 years I was 100% 811 and didn't eat dried fruit in any form, and drank NO fluids.
So if you were living in our evolutionary habitat in the jungle/prairie, how would you drink fluids without tools like glasses or water jugs? You'd climb down from your protected tree and walk out in the open to the neighborhood water hole, were all the predators wait for prey, then kneel over with your face and nose and eyes in the pond, with your haunches and soft under belly exposed, and slurp away? Or better yet, you'd bend over fully exposed without being able to see and scoop water out with your hands for the next hour or so?
I think the apes got it figured out: avoid the water holes and get it from our food.
Permalink Reply by Greg Allen on January 7, 2011 at 8:12am They do it rarely. I suppose you'll post pics of them eating ants next as proof they're carnivores!
Two primates getting their hands wet is drinking? Is that the best you can come up with?
Permalink Reply by Greg Allen on January 7, 2011 at 8:39am I actually think most people benefit from water. Very few people eat ONLY fresh fruit and greens and spend little time in the sun and wind. LFRVs should know though that under ideal conditions they may not need supplemental water. And if they are getting plenty of water for their circumstances, drinking water may reduce their well being and under some conditions it CAN be fatal.
There is no one size fits all for overt water: the correct amount can literally vary from none to a lot depending on diet, environment, activity, etc.
BTW, IMO any anthropoid primates eating primarily shell fish are under extreme habitat stress, but that's another debate.

Permalink Reply by Greg Allen on January 7, 2011 at 7:25am I'm pointing out that MANY LFRVs thrive for years drinking little or no fluids including myself, and drinking excess water, when you get tons of it in your food, can be dangerous, even deadly. These are facts, not opinions. And "who are you to say you know the truth about this."
If the rest of our taxonomic suborder does not drink water, that to me is as telling as the fact that their principle food, by far, is fresh fruit. Its odd to me that their fresh fruit eating is evidence, but their water aversion is not.
Permalink Reply by marco on January 7, 2011 at 7:00am actualy i will say to you..the same..i have not drink more then 20 glace off water in the past 20 years........BUT look where i am now.in deap.troble...again must be a reason..sher bad food..bad choice etc.

Personally, making sure to drink enough water has changed my life. My digestion is way way better, I can eat more calories, My skin is no longer dry and chapped, my lips are fuller and and not chapped, my eyes brighter, I have more energy, etc....of course I cannot say for sure its all because of water but these changes occurred once I started drinking enough water. I can definitely directly attribute my digestive improvements to water increase. Of course some days I drink more and others less but now I don't feel right if I'm not getting at least two liters...I usually get at least 3++
That's just my own personal experience
Permalink Reply by TheBananaGirl on January 7, 2011 at 7:05pm for me drinking water is critical
anyone can say it's "pathological" , i don't mind
even if i eat watermelon on watermelon need water......
so sure , i don't question it.... but i question the fact , why do we need water , why can't we avoid this water intake
is it cause of the toxic overall environnement we're living in? (remarks sometimes that my water intake rises when i stay some days in a town...)
sure , that point questions me!!
