Hello there friends,
I have been HCRV for almost 5 months solid, no overts. I had my body fat percentage measured at the gym when I was about 4 weeks in, and I found out that I was at 16.1%. At that time I weighed 155lbs, I am 5'10''.
So. Today at the gym I weighed in at 175lbs, with shoes and clothing, and am now at 25.3% body fat according to the calipers. I know that dexascan is waay better, I unfortunately do not have access to one.
My trainer is giving me a whole lot of 'I told you so's", and telling me to go paleo. This is obviously not an option for me, or anyone else with half a brain. However, I am startingt o doubt the magic of fruit, and I am devestated to feel like this diet has failed me because I have given it all I've got for the last several months. I've been spending between $500 and $700 a month on (mostly) organic fruit. I have made many positive lifestyle changes since beginning my hcrv journey, such as quitting smoking, drinking alcohol and coffee/tea, dropping all spices and condiments, and being more active.
How can this be? Looking for some support and any helpful information before I go donate two cases of bananas to Occupy Portland. :(((((
Respectfully,
Caitlin

Permalink Reply by Caitlin Ann on February 12, 2012 at 12:45pm The more that I have been thinking about it, I totally agree that it was probably too low of a reading. 16% is very low, and although I was smaller, I think it is unlikely that I was ever that lean.
Permalink Reply by WendyE on February 11, 2012 at 7:43pm Something is definitely rotten in Denmark. If you had this dramatic a change, you would NOT need calipers to tell you! You would KNOW.
I'm starting to think your trainer is on a mission to prove herself right, whatever the cost to your mental health.
Permalink Reply by Caitlin Ann on February 12, 2012 at 12:47pm I can see how his interests are different from mine, and that he may have catered to his own. I mean, why would he want me to feel good about myself when I'm living a contradictory lifestyle to his.
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on February 12, 2012 at 1:35pm Stop 10 random strangers on the street and say 'doing a survey on body image for Uni, do I look fat to you?'
Look at your videos champ. You got HARDCORE body image issues if you think your fat lol!
I love it when newbies post on here and say 'IM FAT!' then you look at their photos and they are either stick insects or just floppy from decades of low fitness levels but they think its the new health food fling that is the problem....
Permalink Reply by Caitlin Ann on February 12, 2012 at 1:47pm Thank you for the clarification. I should probably go and talk to someone, like a therapist.
Permalink Reply by Jon Fergus on February 12, 2012 at 2:14pm Body image is a tough one. Objectivity is needed to overcome the difference between how we think we look and how we actually do.
I think you look great, by the way, just going by your pics (where are these vids DR mentions?). So I suppose now you only need to stop 9 strangers. ;-)
Permalink Reply by VeggieSaurus on February 11, 2012 at 7:59pm I had my suspisions on the trainer as well, as soon as I read that he is almost forcing you to go on Paleo diet. Maybe not, I don't want to blaim anyone.
But, to check again...Do you have a chance to do your meassurements somewhere else?
Best to you! :D
