thanks sunshine for the imput. heard a joke last night "did you hear about the monk who ordered a hot dog? he said he will have one with everything.
Hi Rick, I second Alycia's recommendation, Vitamix! I've had 2 Vitamix's so far, the first lasted 11 years and served me very, very well. Used it 2-3 times a day during those years, and never hiccuped.
You can do fine using lower cost blenders, but in the long run will end up spending the same or more since lower cost blenders just don't last and you'll need to keep buying replacements most likely. I've recommended the WaveStation Express before, it works great, better than most others in the price range (about $18), but those that use this blender 2-3 times daily making lots of smoothies, dressings, sauces, etc have all told me it died on them after 6-8 months. They're just not built for long term hard use.
There are new blenders out now and some may be good, haven't tried them all, but I know for a fact the Vitamix will last you a long, long time and you'll be very pleased with it. Good long term investment. You can also find them used on eBay or craigslist sometimes at lower prices, just be patient and keep looking :)
Good luck!
Peace.
seams vitamix is the way to go. thanks for your response!

I have a Ninja. My husband and I call it "The Choppy Master". We make green smoothies every morning and they are more like "choppies". The veggies are in tiny bits, not very SMOOTH... I wouldn't recommend it. I think it was around $100. I have used a Vitamix and they ROCK. The Vitamix will be our next blender...
thanks so much for the response. i was thinking about the nija as a cheap alternative to a vitamix type blender but not anymore. i guess sometimes its true you get what you pay for. have a fruitful day!

Permalink Reply by Mike Rawsome Grant on April 20, 2012 at 8:03am My wife and I had to decide between vitamix and blendtec. We decided on the blendtec and we use it daily. We recommend it to everyone.
Permalink Reply by Nash4343 on April 22, 2012 at 8:01am Mike, about your blendtec, do things come out foamy and if not how do you achieve the no foam results? Everything I make comes out foamy in this machine.
