I've had 3453 calories today and 906g of carbs all from bananas, mangos, and medjool dates. I was wondering if I don't burn it all off what happens to the extra energy and how does it not lead to weight gain? I'm not so worried about gaining weight, I'm just curious as to the science behind it.
My diet today with bananas, mangos, and dates is:
94.6% Carbs
2.1% Fat
3.2% Protein.
Any science or info on the matter would be great thanks!
I've been LFRV for 5 weeks not with no cooked food and nuts and seeds. Most of my calories are from fruits except the occasional romaine lettuce or spinach.

This is stored energy which your body can access when dietary glucose runs out. It leads to weight gain in the presence of excess protein and fat, which encourages glucagon release from the pancreas, and slows down carb metabolism . Glucagon opposes insulin and is responsible for converting non-carb sources to glucose (gluconeogenesis), and breaking down glycogen stores (glycogenolysis) into glucose. All of this leads to more glucose in the blood, insulin resistance, decreased uptake of glucose into the cells, and therefore fat accumulation.

Permalink Reply by Carl Harwatt on May 28, 2012 at 7:07am Where did you get this info because this subject seems a little vague in general. The China Study mentions thermogenesis but not in any detail. I believe Durianrider when he says you can't get fat on carbs but it would be good to understand it a little better.
Permalink Reply by Josh Fossgreen on May 27, 2012 at 11:10am +1 to Rohan, and plus once you max out your glycogen stores, excess carbs are burned off as body heat - look up studies on dietary thermogenesis. High carb meals = more thermic effect than high fat meals.
Permalink Reply by David on May 27, 2012 at 12:39pm What percentage is burned off as body heat? I'm sure it's a relatively personal thing, but I didn't have a six pack and was exercising plenty and did not eat excess fat or protein for a long time...
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on May 27, 2012 at 6:08pm 6 pak can be hydration levels. 6 pak doesnt mean much. Eat salt and cover up a 6pak in a few hours easily.
Ive just had 3 weeks off due to injury. Only averaged about 3 hours a week of movement and still look like a Kenyan Marathoner on EPO despite eating all the calories I cared for. I did notice my appetite has gone down a lot after the first week. Fruit is just so non stimulating like msg, spiced, salted things are. It is a struggle to get enough daily cals for 99% of crew hence the big drop off rate.
Permalink Reply by David on June 8, 2012 at 2:25pm 6 pack can be hydration? do you mean drink more? or drink less?
Permalink Reply by Jolita Brilliant on June 8, 2012 at 2:40pm drink more.
Permalink Reply by Josh Fossgreen on May 30, 2012 at 3:30am Hard to say, David, since a lot of the studies done on the matter use meals with like 20% fat as "high carb" meals. You can look up dietary thermogenesis on pubmed and look at a lot of different studies, but none done with fruit, unfortunately!
Permalink Reply by Danny Bergman on May 27, 2012 at 11:29am Awesome, thanks for the info guys! Really appreciate it, so I'm assuming with the low fat and protein percentage it won't be stored as fat correct? Since "the fat we eat is the fat we wear" I'm assuming?
Permalink Reply by Rohan Smith on May 27, 2012 at 12:11pm Yeah thats right. But keep in mind that every cell in our body is lined by a membrane that's made of fat. This has to be at optimal health to allow the efficient passage of nutrients into and out of the cells. Its an important nutrient that we shouldnt disregard completely.
In my experience, when i consume too much fat with my carbs, it makes my whole system sluggish.
