30 Bananas a Day!

I know that we aren't supposed to count calories, but let's say I had 30,000 calories in one day. Of course, that would be way more than my body needs, so what happens with those extra calories? Are they all excreted when I use the bathroom?

I think you would just get sick! 30,000? try it .

I dont believe im starving myself. I went through that a a couple of years ago, i know if i am or not.  And what i mean by " i dont need many calories " is i get really fully easily and put on weight very easily aswell. I simply eat when im hungry , i listen to my body. For me at the moment i can only eat that many. and also i have bowel problems, even though i eat lots of fibre and stuff i can never seem to go to toilet for days. Would eating more calories make this even worse?  How do i fix this aswell?

No eating more calories from whole vegan foods like bananas, dates, greens, yams etc. will make your bowel problem better. I would stay away from grains with bowel problems. Bananas and legumes are better since the kind of sugar in them also makes food for the bacteria in your gut. Also most constipation problems are caused by dehydration, and also sometimes stress (or some combination of undereating, dehydration and stress)

Good luck and please start eating more! I am currently getting a degree in nutrition and I can tell you without a doubt 1000-1500 calories is not enough for a young lady. Try increasing to 2000 and then eventually to 2500, then more if you want to. Focus on soft, high calorie whole vegan foods. The little bit of weight you said you gained, is likely just water associated with the storage of carbs. It is a good thing. Ignore the scale and use your figure in your clothing as the guide of your size. And exercise and sleep enough if you dont already! Ok enough lecturing from me....

No i appreciate your help :)  but i dont count my calories i was just esstimating roughly thats how much i have . Also i eat bananas and dates everyday. my bowel is really wierd :/ I'll try eating more but im not going to stuff myself till i cant walk. i eat enough till im full and satisfied. And i drink lots of water aswell.  But maybe it might be stress i never thought of that.  Thanks.

Thank you for the clarification. I can assure you that 1000-1500 calories would be very bad in the long run and would guarantee that you gain weight or at the least, do not lose any. At least once in a while you should count the calories just to make sure you are getting enough, since not getting enough is far worse than getting "too much."

You get full really easily - I'm sure you are aware that when I started this diet, I couldn't eat more than 5 bananas without getting full and feeling sick. Not that you are familiar with me personally, but that happens to everyone. You cannot listen to your belly as a measure of being "full and satisfied" until it has truly adjusted. It is an issue of stretching a tummy that is used to digesting low-volume high-density foods that all of a sudden has to deal with high-volume low-density fruits. So you could eat 1000 calories (a starvation level for anyone of any size, not matter how special you might think your metabolism is) and feel full or even sick and nauseous, but you would probably be gaining weight or not losing any (funny how ketosis works, amirite? It's almost counterintuitive... eat less, weigh the same or more.) When starting this diet, one has to push one's limits until one can digest an appropriate amount of food to be healthy and fit. Note that I am not accusing you of purposely under-eating or anything, just that you may experience problems if you go by solely "listening to your body" since your body is so used to eating everything other than fruit. If you were raised on LFRV you would never have to count calories since your belly would be stretched appropriately and you would be able to accurately "feel" when you were full/had enough food.

Anyways, so you have bowel problems. Anytime someone here has bowel problems, I spam this link:

naturesplatform.com/health_benefits.html

Should you decide to adopt this practice that humans used from the beginning of time until the mid-1800s, your bowel problems will simply go away in a short matter of time. Also you'll be sparing yourself from all sorts of gynecological problems and other nasty things that happen in the lower belly area.

Thanks peter  :)

Im experiencing this very thing right now. I can't believe how much food 3000 Calories seems like. I'm really new at all this and i'm up to about 8 banana's at a sitting, and I've gotten in to the habit of rounding up more calories by consuming fresh squeezed OJ in an attempt to at the very least get my calories in. I have discovered that I'm not much of a fan of the banana only smoothie. However, I hope that when Cherry's come back around, I can get some Banana-Cherry smoothie's going. Sounds gooooood!

Hey thanks dude. I'll try this tomorrow.

+1 to the pulse blending.

Since no one posted a direct answer that I saw..

If you consume excess calories you will put on body fat. However it's important to consider what an "excess" is. By using that word, you inherently imply an amount that it is more than the body can use. It is difficult to delve too far into this range when eating fruit, due to the sheer volume, the fact that you will be more energized to move and use the calories uconsciously, and dietary thermogenesis.

But yes, if you deliberately try to, you can put on fat. But you will be fighting a steep uphill battle due to all the natural processes that will be working against you.

Nathan, if you read my replies to this discussion you will see that I have been trying to say the exact same as you have so eloquently expressed.

Anyway, thanks for replying and reinforcing my point so clearly and articulately.

Love, Daniel
