I just read this post on thefruitarian.com, and how he eventually shifted away from fruits like bananas and dates in favor of high water content fruits.

I've been eating a lot of bananas, oranges, and grapes during my transition phase.
What are YOUR staple fruits?
Is it hard to get enough calories when you eat high water content fruits?

With the bananas and dates you can certainly add up the calories pretty quick.
Almost forgot.....melons in season.....YUM

If I had to rely soley on high water fruits, I don't think I could make it. Bananas give me the bulk and energy I need to function. Plus they are easy to eat and are very cheap in Texas. Bananas are my number 1 followed by oranges, grapes, tomatoes and melons. I don't like dates that much.

Permalink Reply by Desi_fruitpassion on March 24, 2012 at 5:49am Hey Alex ;) Ooooh yes, it's so true, it can be really difficult to find good mangos :(Such a pity.. I've tried them all in all shops I think ... but the best ones in my town has HOFER! Most of the time they have very ripe "Kent mangos". Sometimes also Penny-Markt :-) At Hofer I usually order a few boxes of mangos (about 18 to 20 mangos) and a few days later and can pick them up at the shop. I order them now, cause they told me that I'm not allowed to buy so much mangos if I hadn't ordered them. Other people also want mangos;) They said even 8 mangos are too much :(
SPAR always has so green and unripe ones..
Hopefully your Hofer also has good Kent-mangos, because I have noticed that different HOFER's in different cities even have different mangos. GOOD GOOD LUCK ;D

Permalink Reply by vegan witch Ⓥ on March 24, 2012 at 12:36am it depends on what season but high on the list are - banana + pawpaw + rockmelon + mango + pear + dates.
Permalink Reply by Jamie T on March 24, 2012 at 4:44am Bananas & dates daily. Grapes, clementines & apples every other day.
Permalink Reply by Sigrid Holth on March 24, 2012 at 7:16am Right now, my go-to fruits are bananas, oranges and dates. I tried today to get enough calories from other fruits than nanas and dates, but ended up having to have a HUGE meal at the end of the day to make up for lack of calories earlier... I don't think I could do this diet without bananas at least... They are also the cheapest fruit here where I live!
