im at a loss.
ive had this mastisitis on and off for about 2 weeks. its extremely painful. im hesitating to go to the doctors as i dont want antibiotics.
the clog just wont come out and he nurses on that breast 85% of the time.
perhaps water fasting would work? i dont know what to do, i'm dying from this pain

Permalink Reply by veganmama on May 31, 2012 at 9:55pm you think my body can dissolve it??? thats what i was hoping for i started strictly fruit no fat whatsoever 2 days ago so hopefully that wont let any future clogs come back, and i really hope youre right about my body dissolving the clog! im drinking lots of water
Permalink Reply by Maggie on May 31, 2012 at 10:09pm It should be able to dissolve it eventually or it will clear on its own if it's not too severe but I'm not sure it will be due to decreased fat in your diet or decreased fat in your milk as a result of decreased fat in your diet, if that is what you were implying. :)
Your baby NEEDS a certain amount of fat and so do you while breastfeeding - I will try to dig this out but I'm pretty sure I've seen a clip of Doug Graham even saying this - that pregnant and lactating women can allow their fat percentages to creep up even a bit past 10% because we need the extra fat to be healthy at this stage of our lives.
Glad you're feeling a bit better!
Great news that the pain is less. Happy homecoming.
Permalink Reply by Mera/Feather Story on June 7, 2012 at 1:13pm I agree with Chanda...especially with the cold shower, deep massages, even massaging neck and back to make it more tolerable to massage the breast and alternating between hot/cold. I have also heard great things about cabbage leaves in the bra. Other than that I would really suggest deep breathing and trying to increase your oxygen intake by taking regular breath breaks. And nurse or pump as much as you can. You may be able to use a jar or container that your breast fits in that may be more comfortable than traditional pumps. I hope you get some relief soon, and I'm sure you will.
