30 Bananas a Day!

I read an article a while back about how, in a study of men, those who supplemented their normal diet/workout routine with extra vitamin C experienced an increase in their ability to build muscle.  Mind you, this article was in Men's Health magazine, so it was SAD-based.  Has anyone here tried taking/consuming extra vitamin C for this purpose, and if so, were there any positive/negative results?  Thanks!
