Hey guys, I've become a little concerned about my Vita-mix 5200 lately. It's a great blender and only a year old, I love making banana smoothies with it everyday. But, recently I noticed a few hours after washing it out and drying it, there is a funky smell. The blades are brown and stained, but not rusty.
Am I not washing it properly? I never use soap, just hot water.
Just wanted to see what you guys think and maybe if you've had this happen too. Feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!
From time to time, let's say once a week, you'll have to give a good wash with soap, rinse very well, and even a good white vinegar wash to kill anything that might be left there.
Most likely some mold took up home in your blender, nothing to worry, easy to clean.
do you wear gloves to keep soap(sic) from getting on your hands?
No gloves needed, just a nice long brush ;-)
you weren't blending ipads again were you?
Haha alright yogaranka, I'm gonna try it out. Thanks bro!
The cider vinegar wash worked great! Thanks again Yoga! And no Sunshine, I only put fruit in my blender XD
