30 Bananas a Day!

Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that I've just got back from Beijing, China, having won my first professional ranking event for 3 years!

It's only my 9th professional ranking event win and I'm now in my 21st season as a pro; some say that I'm a slow player but obviously, I'm an even slower learner!

Interestingly, I've only been vegan for around 4 months but feel fantastic and weigh the lightest I've been for 10 years, at 69.6kg, yesterday morning.

Snooker is very popular in China now, with audiences reaching over 100 million, throughout Asia, on occasions, especially when the Chinese players are involved.

I had the opportunity to promote a vegan lifestyle, during my press conferences last week and even managed to plug 30banansaday.com and also the fantastic books, The China Study and Healing The Gerson Way, as well as wearing a Forks Over Knives logo on my waistcoat, which was shown in all my TV matches.

Amazingly, I was asked if it might be possible for me to write the foreword for a Chinese translation of Charlotte Gerson's book, which would be a great honour and that's something that I did before, when writing the foreword for Millionaire Upgrade, by Richard Parkes-Cordock.

This is the first season for 17 years, that I've been outside the top 16 in the world rankings, so now have to win a qualifying match for the World Championship, which is our final event of the season.

Yesterday's win takes me back up to no.20, so I'm heading in the right direction again!

I have just under 2 weeks to prepare myself for that qualifying match, so it will be more of the same; sleep, water, sugar, practise and it's the last part that's the difficult bit!

All the best, Peter

Hi Stuart,

I'm glad that you feel inspired to become vegan again, as I genuinely believe that it's the healthiest lifestyle for us, by far, not to mention doing your bit for the animals and the planet, in general.

The World Championship didn't exactly go as I would have liked it to but I feel that I learnt quite a lot from that match; Ronnie is always tough to play and he can produce flashes of sheer brilliance...

I've been a big Marillion fan, since my teens and selected Wrapped Up In Time, from the Less Is More album, as it reminds me of my Dad and also of my children too, when I'm away from them, travelling; they really do grow up so fast but I try my best to hold on to the memories and cherish them.

My favourite Marillion songs, apart from Wrapped Up In Time, would be Sugar Mice, Chelsea Monday and Warm Wet Circles; I just love those Steve Rothery guitar solos, too! What a legend!

Apparently, wearing the Gerson Therapy logo, at The World Championship, earned me the distinction of breaking The Cancer Act of 1939, which seems a very sad state of affairs, in this day and age, where everyone, surely, has a right to freedom of speech and to promote a natural treatment, that has cured many people of various cancers and other degenerative diseases.

I can certainly understand and respect the views and wishes of the BBC and of World Snooker, in requesting me to take off the logo, through the fear of possible legal action but having researched a lot on the subject, since the death of my father, last year, I thought that it would be nice to create some awareness for Gerson Therapy and perhaps people could then research and decide for themselves. Anyway, I'm happy that I decided to promote Gerson Therapy and not just wear one of the logos that I would have been paid for wearing...

Personally, I'm all for a natural treatment, which helps to detoxify the liver and aid the body's own immune system and it seems perfectly logical to me, that nature would provide the ability for natural fruits and vegetables to aid recovery from sickness, provided that we don't make that process far more difficult than it should be, by consuming meat, dairy, alcohol and processed foods.

Congratulations on choosing the vegan path to optimum health, once again!

All the best,

Peter

So surprised to see your name on this forum Mr Ebdon, been watching you play for years, a true legend of the game, looking forward to reading more from you

Hi Peter, thanks for your reply

So you been a long time Marillion fan like me too, I first heard them on the Friday Rock Show with their Reading set back in 1983, recorded it and listened to it over and over.... my favourites are Grendel, Chelsea Monday too, Incubus, virtually the whole of Misplaced Childhood (class album), 100 Nights, This Strange Engine, Neverland and Trap The Spark ... last time I saw them in concert was at Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall in a cave. I must admit i did fall out of love with them after Holidays In Eden but my brother invited me to one of their concerts in 2007 and I was so glad i did, we even made a video for a competition they ran on their website for 'Whatever Is Wrong With You' which is on youtube, entering 'okehampton marillion' into search brings you to it, i posted on the marillion forum about you using Wrapped Up In Time as your walk on track, thats where somebody posted about the fuss on twitter ...i'm not into many modern bands but 'Given To The Wild' by the Maccabees is an album to check out.

It was inspiring stuff from Ali Carter against Judd Trump, so good to see he's doing well in this tournament after his battle with poor health, such a fighter that guy.... and i see he got a smacker on the forehead!

After 2 weeks back on my vegan diet i've noticed strong physiological changes especially at night, some of them strong and almost frightening ... must be my body detoxifying, so nice to have those feelings again after so many years : )

Regards

Stuart
