30 Bananas a Day!

I'm going to be a musician on Regent Seven Seas Cruise line for a long haul, 5 months this year and then 4 months following shortly. They require me to get shots for yellow fever and tetanus. They will not accept a doctor's note for moral/religious objection. Since they are a private institution they are entitled to deny me as an employee if I don't get the shots.

This gig is super important to me. I'm really excited about it, and I'm thinking that I will just take the hit for my physical health. What I really want advice on:

What's the best way to minimize the damage the shots will do? Fasting before/after? I'm already eating 100% 811, getting lots of sleep and exercise, drinking lots of water, good emotional health.

What is in these shots? Is it dangerous to the degree of doing permanent damage or killing me? Or is it stuff that my body will be able to eliminate relatively short-term? I'm feeling fear that this will hurt me more than I think.

I believe in the concepts of Natural Hygiene. How does this play into yellow fever, which is 'caused' by a virus spread by mosquito bite? Does the virus just not thrive in a healthy, alkaline body? How does that work? Ingredients of vaccine

Tetanus is 'caused' by infection by a certain bacteria, usually in a deep wound/cut. Does this bacteria just not thrive in an alkaline body? Ingredients of vaccine

As I read these ingredient lists, I'm feeling intense clarity that doing this gig is on my path and I will do what's necessary to make it work. I'm also feeling deep caring about the animals that it will inadvertently harm via egg protein and 'bovine extract' (what the fuck? cow juice?). I also care deeply about my physical body and want to do what's best for its health in this context. Thanks for your help.

Hm. I contemplated this option, which is basically to ask the doctor to commit fraud. As much as I'd like to avoid putting these substances in my body, to do that would be lying directly to my talent agency and the cruise line, which I don't think I'm willing to do. It also threatens the doctor's career.

As far as getting less nasty shots, I know there are multiple TB shots. I plan on asking for the one with the least shit in it :).

I can't say I understand your moral standing on this issue. The doctors career will only be threatened if you go around telling everybody what he did. These vaccinations are the most immoral health quackery of all. Plus a lot of the time, they don't even work. If someone told me I need to eat a pile of poo to get their job and then I'd have no problem with lying to them that I ate it. Eating poo would be much healthier in this case...

If you ask for 'the shot with the least shit in,' he may just fob you off and give you the regular vaccines. You must specifically request for an additive free shot. That will negate much of the bad stuff in these shots. Even though normal vaccinations are still pretty bad for you.

The doctor's career isn't my main concern. What I mean though is that he would be falsifying paperwork, and in the case that the cruise line found out, a) I would be extremely guilty of fraudulent claims, and b) so would the doctor.

My main concern is being truthful with the cruise line and the talent agency. While I of course agree that vaccines are not only non-effective but harmful to human health, I would rather take that hit than lie about it. My first course of action was to attempt to get a waiver, but the way the law is written is that though you have a right to refuse vaccination, private companies, such as the cruise line, also have the right to deny your employment based on that.

Well even though there's obviously no way they will be able to know or prove that you've not taken the shot and if you do contract any of these diseases, it would be put down to a 'failed vaccine,' I admire and respect your honesty.

This is the way I'd go.

Failing that ask the employer to sign a document taking full legal responsibility for any and all posible negative reactions you may suffer from the vaccine. No employer would ever sign it but it might at least make them think about their stance on vaccinations.

Have you considered what you'll eat on a cruise ship for 5 months? I went on one for just 7 days and the fruit wasn't that great...I can't imagine 5 months of it.

Also, try telling them (or a doctor) you're allergic to eggs. Someone I know said that and got out of the yf shot when she was going to Africa.

Thanks for the egg allergy idea. I'm up for trying that :).

I have thought about what I'll eat. As a crew member I have access to all the food on board, which will include some amount of unruined produce. I also plan on at some point seeing about having them just order cases for me. I will also be off-ship almost every day, so might buy a significant amount of fruit on land. I anticipate there may be some unintentional fasting days as I first learn how to make it work for me. I definitely plan to stay 100% LFRV, though probably not too organic as I don't have very high hopes for the health consciousness of cruise food!

SAY NO

You wont have the job in a year or even 6 months and you will regret it

Yes, it is dangerous to the degree of causing permanent damage or killing you! Neurological damage no matter what. http://vactruth.com/2009/07/21/dr-andrew-moulden-interview-what-you...

I have 2 family members severely damaged by vaccines. My advice is don't ever do it.
