No, don't bring any fruit. I almost got fined with $200 for violating with some fresh smelling apples in my suitcase, a dog sniffed it out, and I got really red in my face...I felt stupid. I mean, I did not bring drugs, just apples from L.A. to Vancouver. On the airplane they ask you the question on that form, and I did not want to give up my precious apples, but as I said, the guy was very serious, fining me....I kept smiling, and telling him, that I did not think it was an offense, and he let me go. But KEPT THE APPLES! the bugger, and probably enjoyed them too. That was in 2004
Some fruit might be ok, it depends, when I travelled from WA to CA by car there were huge restrictions at the Oregon/Cali border on what fruit was allowed in. Some types were, don't remember which, it changes.
Thanks everyone, from Googling, and finding a CA Dept. of Ag. guide, it looks like I can bring it but I can't tell how current the info is and I'm not sure it's worth it with leaking bananas, etc., lol. I will let you know if I try it and what happens. I appreciate your quick responses!
