Permalink Reply by Jelle on July 27, 2012 at 6:53am Thank you for sharing. Its nice to put a face to the voice of those http://nutritionfacts.org videos! I often think he is cherry picking information from studies to always result in his favour, lot of studies he uses are very small. But I don't really see a better way of presenting the information he found. It's not like he is doing the research himself :D
Most studies are very small. This isn't Dr. Gregor's fault. and why you would cherry pick something negative from such a great talk i have no idea.

that's not really what he's doing jelle. the reason things work out in his favor is because that's what the studies show - even many of those done by the corpse industries. he also uses very, very large studies which are very conclusive - particularly those which demonstrate the hazards of corpse industry product consumption.
you can keep up with his studies by downloading the bibliography (which is updated each year) here:

Permalink Reply by Jelle on July 30, 2012 at 4:17am Thanks pradtf, I do think Dr. Gregor and his site are great, brining nutrition information to the masses!
I wasn't really criticising him that much but but I guess I made that impression. The video shared here "Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death" is brilliant. I was more revering to his smaller video's about garlic and other stuff not looking at the whole picture sometimes. And I guess your are right that if the studies show the conclusions that well he can use it that way ;)

well you are correct about those, jelle.
in fact, greger jokes about his "addressing the most pressing dietary issues of our time" in his opening which have to do about the very things you talk about. :D
and to press home your point, if you follow his dvds, you'll see that he occasionally changes his mind about these "most pressing dietary issues" as new research contradicts old. this is to be expected because some of these items are really rather trivial and more like busy work that researchers do in order to get grant money, i think. :D
in one of his dvds, he mentions that his kids always ask him "what are we going to cut out today, dad?" because he apparently alters the family diet based on what papers he's recently read. :D
however, he is an adamant vegan and has overwhelming scientific ammo to level any opposition on that matter!
so, i appreciate your clarification. i didn't think you were being critical (since i'm familiar with many of your posts in the past), but i'm glad you pointed out specifically what your comment was in reference to.

Having worked in the medical research field in the past, I can second this opinion. In fact, one of the things that turned me off to it was this constant need to "shake the money tree", so to speak.

btw, i really enjoyed your comment:

Was just logging on to share this with everyone. Amazing video.
must watch and share for all.
you can also buy the dvd and share it that way, all his proceeds go to charity.
Permalink Reply by Max Waters on July 27, 2012 at 11:21pm Dr. Greger is my absolute favorite researcher, I LOVE his voice! :P
Permalink Reply by pradtf on July 30, 2012 at 4:10am he is definitely super-cool!
what he's been able to do better than anyone else i know (and there are several excellent people in this field), is bring actual science to the masses without the usual blather or attempts to sell people something!
we can all support his efforts by promoting his
(which is imho one of the best things that has happened on the net!)
and no one would be wise to debate him, unless very well prepared because he'll shred you!
he even has a very well-developing hair style!

Permalink Reply by Elsophe on July 28, 2012 at 8:25am Thankyou very much for sharing this. I am the only vegan in my family and most of my immediate family are not sympathetic with this decision, nor will they acknowledge the health benefits. Recently one of my family members has been diagnosed with cancer, so I'm glad to have this resource to share with them.
