30 Bananas a Day!

I am writing on the behalf of Lemoy Andressohn who was accused of manslaughter in 2003 after her five and a half month old child died due to what was later confirmed to be a birth defect. It was claimed that it was the raw vegan diet that caused the untimely death. She was able to have the manslaughter accusation dropped after providing scientific evidence of this birth defect, but was charged with four counts of neglect; the prosecution claiming that her other four children were malnourished. The children were perfectly healthy other than a lack of vitamin D from not drinking cows milk. Lemoy and her husband spent 99 days in prison, (Lemoy continued to be raw in prison) unwilling to settle with the plea offered (forced permanent dietary changes for her children). Although she went to prison, Lemoy's other beautiful, healthy, children who were all raw from birth were forced to eat soybeans for protein while she was in prison. Lemoy has been fighting back for a long time and would most like her name to be cleared. The courts have continued to make her life difficult and are looking for any excuse to send her back to prison. They can't find anything for now. She is optimistic with the new judge handling here case and is fighting for the courts to rule that she did nothing wrong, and to leave her alone once and for all. She is concerned with future ramifications both for herself and children, as well as other raw fooders if she does not clear her name. A suit may eventually follow, however Lemoy is not pursuing that course of action at this time.

Lemoy has used a public defender for her cases in the past. Her most recent case against to prosecution has be denied the use of a public defender, so Lemoy is trying to raise money for the use of a private attorney. She needs 14,500 dollars to do so. I am thinking I might try and sent up an online donation in the near future. Please stay tuned for that. Lemoy sells raw food every Saturday at the Coconut Grove farmers market. She has a great group of kids. I've played football with them! My heart goes out for there cause. Possibly more importantly is our civil liberties being infringed upon.

Here are pictures of the newspaper articles covering the cases and a group picture at the potluck showing our support:

young kids should not follow 811, dr graham says we start to be low fat around 8 before that it is normal to eat more fat since they could be technically breast fed.
I too believe strongly in dietary freedom, but it must be informed dietary freedom. Unfortunately, we are all pioneers in this crazy, human-made dietary mess we're in. Our closest living relatives, the other anthropoid apes, provide good examples of what our diet should be. However, even they, due to environmental destruction by man use fall-back foods such as meat and insects, that have negative health consequences, due to their nutritional inadequacies. But, I digress.

Yes, this family deserves and needs our support, but learning from their possible mistakes helps us all.
This is a tragic story.
Thank you for posting.
Things will stay out of control unless sane and good voices prevail.
Thanks for posting especially the photos of the newspaper articles... You should RENAME this post so it gets better attention.... I have met Lamoy. Great lady.
Suggestions Maltron?
Landmark raw food court case won!!!

They couldn't prove raw foods were harmful, so she won after years of standing up for her (OUR) rights!!!! Way to go, Lamoy!!! Many prayers of gratitude to you and your husband and all your family!!!
I met her when we were in FLA last spring. She is a wonderful person!!! I know how hard it is to stand up against the system like she did. She is a brave person of true principal! I have so much gratitude for her!!!
Family Services told her to just sign that she was wrong to feed raw and she could have her children back. She said no, you must prove that raw foods are bad and they could not, so she won!!!
any news on their situation?
I am also interested.BEautiful people trying to do the best for their children. The stinking system,it gets such a tight hold on people who dare to different, and it becomes very difficult to escape their cluthes.I wish them the best.Raw foods are the best, how dumb are some people far out!!!
Hi guys. This article I wrote about 2 years ago in case you didn't get a chance to see that. I really appreciate Lemoy and her family. It was a complicated story that ended with the parents not going back to Jail but the result was not completely positive. That's all I am going to share. Others closer to the story may feel they can share more.
Yes i noticed it was 2009,i wondered what had happened since then :)That's fine,i just hope they are all together again.

I met her is spring of 2009 and they were all back together and the case was finally dismissed.  Family services was extremely immoral in dragging the case on and keeping her kids in their custody after they knew the baby died of a birth defect.  They would tell her and her husband to just sign a statement saying they were negligent for feeding a raw diet to their kids and they could have their kids back.  They refused and Family services  could not prove that the raw diet she was feeding them was harmful so the case was finally dismissed.
