30 Bananas a Day!

HI....I've been 100% HCRV, organic for 56 days...doing great except:

1.  i get real dizzie..close to passing out after standing .

2. i ate a non-organic pineapple yesterday...and my mouth blistered..and my tongue bled.

I"m not discouraged at all...but...anyone know why these sudden reactions?  any experience with them???

I'm new here...and i believe strongly in 80/10/10...durianrider, Freelee.. Dr. Ghraham...McDougall...and the entire Vegan/Raw movement!

Raw pineapple regardless of being organic or not is famous for giving people canker sores (aphthous ulcers) I would get them almost every time I ate one when I was younger but not anymore.

You can simply avoid raw pineapples. Canned or cooked won't do that as it kills the enzymes.

Orthostatic Hypotension is pretty common in taller thin teens. I'm not sure what's causing yours without more details as you're not a teen. If you're on beta blockers or other blood pressure meds the adrenaline like plasma catecholamines are not released properly to temporarily raise your blood pressure when going from supine to standing. Your blood rushes to your feet and you get dizzy or even loose vision or black out.

Your blood pressure is probably lower now then it was (healthy lower) due to the lower salt and healthier diet. Pilots wear G-suits to prevent blacking out for the same reasons but they are getting much higher blood pressure changes so the suit prevents the blood from pooling in the legs.

The best temporary fix is to remember to get up much more slowly for now. Just take 15 seconds from laying down to standing. Also don't stretch your arms right away when you stand up.

ahhh... thanks Reed. you rock....Here are some more details about me and my progress on HCRV.

i'm 60, soon to be 61.  i'm 5'7", and 195lbs.  I've lost 20 lbs during my first 6 weeks of HCRV/ 80/10/10.

I'm type 2 diabetic, but stopped the Metformin when i started 8/1/1, because i know that i can control my blood sugar pretty much immediately when i eat right and exercise. I'm hiking or swimming, or biking everyday. i used to take meds for high blood pressure, and cholestoral, but stopped those as well. I feel clear headed, calm, and happy. I meditate, rest, drink lots of water, and get 8 eight hours sleep at night.

thankyou, so much for your reply....any further guidance is appreciated!

I seem to be getting a similar reaction when waking up. As Reed said it's nothing to worry about. I'm sure it'll pass away once the body gets used to it.

As for the pineapple. Don't ever eat a pineapple unless you're 100 % sure it's ripe (nice smell and skin is all golden yellow). If you live in a cold climate it's best to avoid them because they're pretty much always picked too green to ripen.

Morning Edvards!

thanks for your help. I'll try one more pineapple, and wait until it is very very ripe! i'm learning more everyday!  I"m really looking forward to being a picture of health and walking evidance of the beneits of HCRV.  Everyday is a joy now. I appreciate you taking time to reply. It is a big help and it's good to know i'm part of a caring community.

the first is due to lack of salt. It's called hypotasia (atleast in my language) i got it too, always had it, i'm not a fan of salt at all.

I get the same by pineapple, it's normal when it's unripe =)

The only time I can remember getting a dizzy feeling upon standing was when I had a operation and lost a lot of blood. I was put out for the operation and when I came to I felt OK until I stood up and then I felt dizzy. I had to sit down for a few minutes and when I tried getting up again I felt OK. I have always thought that the blood loss from the operation caused a temporary low blood pressure condition.

Also I've read about some people fasting having to get up slowly to avoid feeling dizzy but I've never experienced that on any of my fasts. Good luck.

You might be undereating... You brain needs glucose, eat more and sweeter fruits

I second this, when I first started 811 I was not efficiently tracking my calories and was not getting enough, and would get dizzy spells.  After using chronometer I realized I needed way more cals and never got dizzy after adjusting.  Hope you figure it out soon.  And yeah pineapples are tough, I only eat one once in a while and let it get nice and brown.

Me too, I also got these reactions at the beginning of going vegan, when I wasn't getting enough calories from carbs, and also lost a lot of body weight (from approx. 140lbs. to 120lbs. in a few months). I don't think you should take these lightly, but rather find the source and take care of it, first guess being lack of carbs!!!

keep consulting experienced LFRV's.
