Hello! I am on my 4th day of a HCRV diet. I jumped in 100% and have been eating only raw fruits, vegetables, and a few almonds. I blend smoothies in the morning, have ample fruit in the day and have a big salad at night. I am having the worst digestion issues. I have had only one bowel movement and my stomach is so bloated, I look like I'm pregnant. Today was by far the worst day. I felt dizzy, weak, bloated and nauseous all day. I know people are going to tell me this is detox, but it's so awful, I am ready to give up! And I really don't want to. Will these symptoms go away? I'm not doing this to lose weight, just to be healthier, but I feeling sluggish and huge! I can't even put on clothes. Help me!

Permalink Reply by LovelyRaw on April 6, 2012 at 1:42pm Thanks Meg! I have not read 801010 yet, but have just researched a ton on the internet before beginning this lifestyle. I should order it though. I think I should definitely try mono meals, mangoes or bananas I think I could do. I ate the almonds because I felt like if I didn't eat those I was going to break and eat something cooked. Every time I eat, even if it's simple, like a banana and spinach smoothie, I feel sick afterwards. I think I will leave out the greens for now too. Mono meals. Fruit. Thank you!

'I am having the worst digestion issues'
- and it's all caused by the 4 days of fruit and veg not the years/decades of unhealthy lifestyle right?
Permalink Reply by LovelyRaw on April 6, 2012 at 1:57pm No, I don't think that it's all caused by the 4 days, I'm just looking for advice and support. I'm sure it's my body detoxing - I just feel like I'm in so much pain and that's what's causing me to want to give up. I know this is not an easy process. Everything is just uncomfortable right now. I do feel committed to keep going, I just want the pain to subside. I'm interested in others' experiences of going raw, what they felt, how they got through the initial period of discomfort and when it goes away.

Permalink Reply by Raul Fillo on April 6, 2012 at 2:03pm I'm new here, too but something I came across is the idea of food combining.
I'm not sure how legit it is, but it could help http://www.therawteen.com/2011/11/06/food-combining-chart/
Basically, the site mentions foods that should be eaten together as well as foods that shouldn't be eaten together for good digestion.
Permalink Reply by LovelyRaw on April 6, 2012 at 2:10pm This is great, thank you. I think I've done okay so far on food combining, but I do see that I have been combining strawberries with bananas...Thanks again!

Permalink Reply by LovelyRaw on April 6, 2012 at 2:22pm I'm beginning to think this is probably the way for me to go for a week to two weeks. It will take willpower! But I know this is a lifestyle change I want to make. Does anyone else have experience with banana island? Or a different mono meal for a week or more? Thanks Marcos!
Permalink Reply by Jessie James on April 6, 2012 at 2:34pm I was bloated as well. Hang in there, you will so glad you did!! I would try eating just a few types of fruit until you digestion is better. I usually eat maybe two-to three/four different fruits a day, mostly dates and bananas and sometimes something else. And you are 100%, you should be patting yourself on the back. That is so awesome! Make sure you water up in the morning before you eat anything, at least 50 oz. This flushes your system and gets it ready for the day. After a bit, then have a mono meal. This routine works so well for me. If I eat before I get my water in, it messes everything up.
Permalink Reply by LovelyRaw on April 6, 2012 at 2:37pm Wonderful advice, thank you so much. I think I definitely need to be drinking more water. I also think I am trying to cram in too many different types of fruit and veg, so yep, mono meals and/or less variety of what I am eating.
Permalink Reply by Kristi Warner on April 6, 2012 at 3:24pm Stick it out. Each time I start back up it usually takes about 5-7 days for my bowels to level out. Lots of bloating, constipation and bad stools in the beginning, but then it improves. It's a pain (sometimes literally), but that's what happens when you eat cooked!
