Freelee, did you know it took me a WHOLE YEAR after watching your videos to try this lifestyle? I was on youtube searching through videos about weighloss and saw your video "Weight loss tips #2, ditching the scales" and I was like, why would I not weigh myself? Then, after that video I saw the fisrt video you had made before that one(sorry I don't remember the name), and I was like this is really ****** up, there's this skinny girl telling everyone that in order to lose weight you're supposed to eat 3000 or more calories every day? Wouldn't I be a hippo if I ate that much? they eat veggies and a re fat so no I don't wanna be fat that's insane. This was august 2010.
In february of the following year (2011) I found myself on youtube again and I, once again, came across the skinny girl and her profound promise of losing weight on a 3000 calorie diet. I saw at the end of her video that there was a link to 30bananasaday, and figured I'd check it out since the class I was in was boring. I then saw these testimonies of people that had lost 200, 100 and sometimes less pounds on this lifestyle. I still didn't go for it.
Between february2011 and March of the next year(2012) I tried calorie restricting, only to binge heavily after the first 1-2 weeks of starvation(900 cals per day) and on the days I binged I would eat roughly 3500-4000 calories of dougnuts, debbies, candy bars and Mc**** ice cream. I would sneak food and eat privately in fear of being judged. These habit had came about in summer 2010 but grew worse the last year. I though of suicide a LOT. Felt worthless and depressed. The only reason I felt the need to live is so my family wouldn't have to mourn my death. I thought it was an eating disorder, and in some ways to some people it was. But, now I know that it was because I was overfed with chicken's growth hormones and the poor cow that was murdered for the ice cream was inable to give give me the nutrition that my body so wholly craved.
In this past March I was fed up. I had to find something that could save me from killing myself. What stopped me was this feeling that God was pulling me towards something that had a great purpose. I had previously saved a link to 30BAD in my favorites and I came across it while crying over gaining another 5 lbs after 2 days of hard core binging. I plugged into the site and read so many more testimonies and discussions that I knew I needed to give this a try. I finally gave into the skinniest girl I've ever seen and trusted what she said. lol. Thanks freelee.
I now eat 3000, sometimes 4000 calories a day and I am LOSING weight. %^&? literally, #$%? I've never had so much energy, I've never been so happy on a daily basis, and I never though for a second in my life that I'd lose weight eating 4000 calories. I'm stoaked:D
I've never been so happy. Thanks Freelee, for sticking in my head the last 2 years with your awesome videos, and thanks everyone here for the support and encouragement. Let's get our FRUIT on;P

Wow 4000 calories and no weight gain, that's great. How much exercise do you do? I eat approximately 3200 cals fruit and plain rice/millet for dinner 3-4 times a week and have gained weight like crazy! Lately I've been exercising and gaining slowly, It's possibly related to my underactive thyroid...
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on June 17, 2012 at 3:55am I only jog every other day(or walk for a fair amount of time) and at the time I have a busy job so I'm burning a lot. My life is pretty fast-paced, lol. So I usually just eat whatever fruit/veggie and unfortunately sometimes rice if my money is too short but I'm finishing up my transition 100% raw right now. The "pastas" that we make with spiralized zuccini is SO addictive! My shorts and clothes don't feel any tighter now and my bathing suit is actually too loose in some areas, lol. I haven't weighed myself since I've started but I can definately tell I've lost weight. It's incredible:)
And if you do gain weight in the beginnning it's perfectly normal, I've heard. Our bodies have been so undernourished and deprived so long that it's just gonna take time for them to get used to the abundance of such healthy foods:) If my pants feel like they're tight sometimes when I first put them on it doesn't bother me anymore. I know that it sould just be water or maybe even salt. But like Freelee said, the scale shouldn't be able to control how good or bad our day is because we feel we're such a failure for gaining a pound of muscle or fluid, lol.
Permalink Reply by Peter Csere on June 18, 2012 at 12:24am Ditch the rice/millet. Many people report that including cooked food, even plain fat-free starches, causes them to gain weight. Combining diets just doesn't work as well for weight loss.
I weight 135 lbs, eat 4000 cals/day and haven't gained a pound. Exercise? Twice a week at most, with some mild yardwork every other day. My body fat % has gone down, too.
Your underactive thyroid will not become more active if you're fueling it with grains.
Permalink Reply by George on June 18, 2012 at 5:17am Starches cause water retention. Water retention = more weight.
Permalink Reply by PK on June 18, 2012 at 6:18am @Lucia,
Starches are also broken down partly by insulin which has been called the fat storage hormone as well.
The body can only break down starch into glucose (and or glycogen) risking higher blood sugars if any fat is added to the diet.
The fructose from fruit does not involve the use of insulin, and the body can also break fructose down into other things besides glucose.
If and when possible, try to go 100% raw fruit and leafy greens, and we recommend 2500 cals a day for females (unless you are doing a lot of exercise).

I am not sure how much weight you have gained and how long you have been at this, but some weight gain can be do to being properly hydrated, having fiber in the intestines, and in building denser bones and muscles.

BTW, it is ironic that many of our members freak when their hear they will have to eat 2500-3000 calories a day minimum. They are so stuck on the conventional calorie restriction to lose weight that they assume they will gain. What people do not realize is how much they are eating anyways.
Think of a SAD eater who binges on a bag of potato chips.
If one pound has 16 servings at 160 calories each, that is 2560 calories that might be consumed in one sitting. That does not include all the other cakes, cookies, and candies and even healthy foods they might have consumed that day.
If people are not being strict on themselves, they can easily eat 3k-5k a day.
Now when the dynamic changes to healthy and natural choices, our bodies tend to self regulate. People who need to gain will gain (anorexics and eds) and people who need to lose will lose.
Keep up the great work!
Peace, PK
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on June 17, 2012 at 4:04am Yeah, I definately know how that goes. Now I know why after a few days of binging I would weigh 3-5 pounds more.
The best part about this diet to someone like me, who loves to eat, is NEVER feeling deprived. This is a lifestyle of ABUNDANCE:)
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on June 17, 2012 at 3:42pm Absolutely:) in a year or 2 I'll be posting my before and after's, it's really cool to think about that day. Good luck on your journey too, we're on the best path:)
Permalink Reply by TheBananaGirl on June 17, 2012 at 9:35am Awww :-) Certainly a nice surprise to wake up to thanks Ashlee! I'm so glad you found us and that it all eventually sunk in. Your story sounds very much like a time I went through in my journey too. Thank God fruit I'm now out of that destructive zone and that you are too. The power of eating enough fruit calories can never be underestimated, it's so transformational, it brings forth our trueselves.
Again great to hear this, I'm VERY happy for you!
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on June 17, 2012 at 3:48pm Yes it does, it kills me to know that there are people that are so under nourished and never eat even an apple a week cause they think it's un-needed. This is a life-changing, thought-altering and incredible way of living the only life we have. Thanks again! And don't stop making those videos, you're gonna reach thousands more people:)
