30 Bananas a Day!

I ponder yet another subject, which is debated here.

Before I went completely raw, I had 2 days a week in which I ate completely raw (unfortunately not enough calorically, but I didn't know then...) I ate a whole lot of bell peppers. I also enjoyed eating the red peppers that look like jalapenos, but aren't/are mild just like bell peppers (I don't know the name of them in English, lol).

I admit that I miss eating my peppers and as long as it doesn't harm me, it would be great if I could re-integrate them into my eating. I also miss the little cherry- and grape-tomatoes. But I avoided them reluctantly as well (even longer than the peppers, even for years!) due to all these mixed messages going on around about them.

Before I go on any further for those of you who eat (and can afford to eat) organic, good for you. But - I'm not trying to make myself a victim when I say this - the fact is I (and surely others here as well) am in a situation where it is not financially possible for me to afford what's being labeled as "the better/best version" (organic). I am going to undertake as many plans as possible to see that I can buy my produce cheaper and still profit nutritionally....

BUT back to the real subject.................

What are your thoughts on tomatoes and peppers? Do you eat them? If yes, how do you feel when you eat them? If not, what are your reasons for avoiding them?

the leaves are not to be eaten or unripe other wise nightshades have no issue than those i know of

I do eat them, but do have autoimmune symtoms coming back everytime I eat it... but not so big deal, it is not that strong as other times.

I think at some point, you'll get over that.

I eat tomatoes and red bell peppers.  I have not noticed any untoward consequences.  I am less interested in hot peppers now.

I never ate hot peppers (not a spicy person at all), but bell peppers and sweet peppers, yes. :)

I eat them all the time. Ate them tonight. Just make sure they are red and ripe.

when i met Doug he was eating lots of them too.   for me they are as cheap as bananas red ripe or roma

of course not the same amount of calories though..

I never have a problem with either, but when I eat them I only eat one or two of them, usually in my evening salad. So I'm not eating huge amounts of them, like I would bananas or dates...

I'm not organic either :/

Maybe enjoy them in a smaller quantity and then there won't  any issues?

:)

I'm a tomato head. When I'm not doing a fruit fast (like now, where I'm eating 100% fruit), I eat pounds and pounds of them. I love them. I eat them like apples, I put them in my salad AND in my dressing,  and if I wanna snack, I snack on cherry tomatoes. LOVE THEM!

My record was a day in which I ate about 4kg of tomatoes in 1 day. Never had a single bad effect from them.

But I hate the taste of bell peppers, so those get avoided >.>

I used to eat them, and really enjoy them at the beginning of this journey. but now a few months in, I've been less drawn to them. Mostly because if I eat eat too much of a different fruit which gets to acidic for my mouth such as kiwi's, I can't face other acidic fruits without my mouth hurting. lately even cantaloupe melon sweet and ripe can seem a bit acidic.

I don't eat tomatoes, but it's because I can't stand the taste. I'm not allergic. I LOVE bell peppers though. :)

I agree with the other folks, eat what's best for you! If you love nightshades and feel good when you eat them, have at them. :)

Hi Athena,

I have heard this from both Doug and Don Bennet,

That some people can be sensitive to them at the beginning and can have serious issues and are best avoided though most have no issues. There recommendation is if you think your having trouble with them, take them out of your diet and reintroduce them later.

It can take sometimes up to a year or more before some people are okay to eat them. One possible reason is that most people have leaky gut which allows food particles or chemicals to pass through are intestines which will cause our body to attack theses foreign particles and at the same time go after joints, etc. It can take up to 8 months or more to heal leaky gut, therefore until this resolved people can have issues. I had some issues in the first year with them, I took them out of my diet for about a year and no longer had issues. Eat them as much as I want don't have issues anymore.

If you want to know have a large amount in a meal them see how you feel after and in the next couple of days if you notice nothing probably nothing to worry about :)

I will see if I can find there responses it was a while back
