So for thanksgiving I decided to go HFRV just for a day and made a gourmet raw pizza (made with a conglomeration of nuts, seeds, garlic, salt, etc. - I know...bad stuff), rather than bringing a bunch of fruit like I was originally planning on doing. I didn't really feel like playing twenty questions about my diet like I usually do when I eat a lot of fruit in front of others, so i figured it would reduce the shock & awe.
After I bit into it, I immediately regretted making it. I thought it would satisfy my fat tooth since I'd been overt free for awhile before, but it just didn't do it for me at all. I felt about 50 lbs heavier and could have sworn I was run over by a steamroller at some point. Actually, it shouldn't have surprised me, the "pizza" was in fact about 80% fat accordingly to chronometer!! That's much more than a real pizza would be! As a matter of fact, I probably would have been better off eating a cooked deep dish pizza! Live & learn...
The funny thing was that a couple people were saying "wow that looks really healthy" simply because they could relate to it, and it's an alternative version of something that is not healthy, so it must be healthy right? Alternatively, when I eat just fruit I get stuff like "wow that's so unhealthy" or "where's the protein??" I seriously feel like I'm in a twilight zone episode sometimes...
Anyways, moral of the story - take care of yourself first and worry about what others will think later. I compromised my health to have temporary social acceptance, but then felt like crap for two days straight as a result.
Eat fruit and be joyous! Leave the nuts for the squirrels.
