Cheers, Sam! Where do you live?
Permalink Reply by Sam on May 26, 2012 at 4:03am Anytime :) I'm Worcester for a year or two then I'll be move to the country itself for some even fresher and cheaper Thai mango, hell I'll even grow my own!
Sounds wonderful! I plan to get to somewhere hot with more fruit availability, too. Maybe we'll bump into each other sometime!

Permalink Reply by Hylas on May 26, 2012 at 5:26am Too much. I moved to Manchester from the Czech Republic about 6 months ago and couldn't believe that I now have to pay about three times as much as I did in Prague. I don't have a car so can't see to get anything from wholesalers. My husband's ready to divorce me with how much I have to spend :P
Not sure if you saw my bit on buying groups, that might be helpful. Suma Wholesale will deliver for free if you order over £250 (ex VAT).
Tried editing the above, but it got 'lost', just to say that Suma is for dried goods, canned and bottled produce, cosmetics, housewares, etc., not really fresh fruit. They're the UK's largest Cooperative and supply most of the wholefood/health food shops.
Went to Tescos today (in Chesterfield, Derbyshire) and yes, they had the Thai mangoes, but they were £2.50 each! So I got some regular ones and just one of the Thai ones.
Rachel, my food bill has definitely gone up in the last year but then I think the whole cost of living has risen a lot in the UK over the last year - I guess it's the recession.
Permalink Reply by Sam on May 29, 2012 at 1:28am yes the last time i got them they were £2.50, crazy prices but i grabbed a few for a treat :) Not really sure how much my food bill is because food takes almost top priority for me so i just get what i want and dont compromise with quality (however the price of theses mangos is a bit ridiculous)
