So I came across something interesting yesterday and I thought I would share it. I have 6 tattoos planned and before I start to get them I thought I'd look up whats in the ink of tattoos.
http://www.fametatu.com/?p=5600 (just one of the sites)
Turns out burn animal bones and other animal products are/can be used in most black inks as well as other colours.
I was blown away when I found this out, and also that they don't tell you.
Guess i'm going to have to ask the shops before i got to them if they use burnt animal in their pigments.

But I figured I'd share this with all of you, who also want/have tattoos.

Permalink Reply by melonhead on May 29, 2012 at 7:25am Here is something that happened to me- I have been all raw for just over three years, but struggling to be all raw for about four years prior. It was during the time when I was struggling when I had what I considered to be a detox symptom, but it was very strange for my body. I have tattoos on both of my forearms, not sleeves, though one is in the shape of a bracelet. Sometimes, I would develop welts on the inside of my forearms that were about two inches long, about an inch or two away from each other, varying numbers of them, sometimes 5 or 6. I always assumed it was in reaction to something I ate. They would only last for an hour or two but the only other time I've ever even had a welt was when I took Aleve once. Never detoxed with welts before or since, but have always wondered, as these welts developed inches from my tattoos and the inside of your forearm is a very soft, easy-to-see area, if it was related to my tattoos. On a different note-so, no more tattoos, huh? Well, until the raw tattoo artist makes his way to Memphis, I guess I'll just be sitting it out. Ces't la vie- more money for organic fruit!! :)
Permalink Reply by Whitney on May 29, 2012 at 5:36pm maybe it was who knows. alot of people don't know this about tattoos... it's so stupid they hide this
Permalink Reply by Jānis Kļaviņš on May 29, 2012 at 10:18pm I also had some weird rush on my forearms in the beginning of this diet.
Permalink Reply by melonhead on May 31, 2012 at 12:32pm That is weird that ya'll had welts and in the forearm area- maybe it is such a sensitive area that detox symptoms are most easily seen or something. Am pretty sure a 'vegan-ink tattoo artist' search on Google will prove fruitless, no pun intended :) here in Memphis. Will give it a shot, though!
there is a shop in portland or that is a vegan tattoo shop.....there in this cute lil vegan mini mall in se........pretty stoked to be living here sometimes
